Cristina Castro

McHenry County Blog note: I am sharing this announcement from Friday, January 22, because State Senator Cristina Castro (D, Elgin):

  • Is in congressional succession planning to replace Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (D, IL-08) if/when he decides to move from his House seat
  • IL-08, after congressional redistricting this year, could include portions of McHenry County, as it did from 2001-2011
  • Castro was first elected Democrat former IL-14 and McHenry County resident Catalina Lauf faced one-on-one in late September discussing Hispanic outreach and discussing President Trump’s COVID response
  • Sponsored Senate Resolution 1158 last year which addresses “employer misclassification” and coupled with the recently published study “On-Demand Workers, Sub-Minimum Wages: Evidence from Transportation Network Provider Trips in the City of Chicago” which recommended a worker classification law similar to California’s AB5 and Catalina Lauf’s Defense of Freedom PAC emerged last week denouncing the radical policy, Castro’s influence is growing through her new appointment

From State Senator Cristina Castro:

Castro excited for new role as Chair of Executive Committee

ELGIN – The Senate Executive Committee for the 102nd General Assembly will have new leadership, as State Senator Cristina Castro (D-Elgin) was announced as its Chair.

“I am honored to have been selected to Chair the Executive Committee, and I am excited to get to work solving some our state’s most pressing issues.

“Some of the most influential and impactful bills come through that Committee, and the debate they inspire is always informative and often persuasive.

“It will be a challenging role, but it’s one that I know I can handle and I’m looking forward to seeing what proposals my colleagues bring to the table.”

The Senate Executive Committee typically handles some of the more complex pieces of legislation that hit the Senate. The landmark cannabis legalization package went through the Executive Committee, as did every pillar of the Black Caucus agenda during the closing days of the 101st General Assembly.

“I want to thank President Harmon for the opportunity to Chair such an important committee, and I am confident that our work will help secure a brighter future for everyone in Illinois.”

  1. Her uncles are the late Fidel and the reigning tyrant Raul. She professes to be an “Illinois maximal leader.”

  2. Hispanic outreach, eh?

I’m tired of Lauf and Casto’s Indenting politics.

Maybe they should return to Guatemala and El Salvador respectively to clean up the nice governments there.
