Reick Opposes “Culturally Responsive” Rules for Teachers & How to Take Action

From Capitol News Service:

GOP members hope to block new teacher standards

…[State Rep. Steve] Reick pointed specifically to a portion of the new standards that call on teachers to “understand and value the notion that multiple lived experiences exist, that there is not one ‘correct’ way of doing or understanding something, and that what is seen as ‘correct’ is most often based on our lived experiences.”

Steve Reick

He also pointed to another provision calling on teachers to “(a)ssess how their biases and perceptions affect their teaching practice and how they access tools to mitigate their own behavior (racism, sexism, homophobia, unearned privilege, Eurocentrism, etc.)”

Another provision calls on educators to “(b)e aware of the effects of power and privilege and the need for social advocacy and social action to better empower diverse students and communities.”

“Let’s be clear.

“This rule is not an improvement to education,” Reick said.

“It’s an attempt to interject politics into the classroom.

“The standards that ISBE wants to impose are beyond misguided.

“Requiring certain political viewpoints in our school systems is simply unacceptable.”

And from the Illinois Family Institute comes this call for action:

Take ACTION:

It is vital that the members of the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR) hear from all Illinois taxpayers.

Please click HERE to send a message to this committee urging them to vote against any proposal that would mandate all Illinois teachers be indoctrinated with left-leaning “woke” beliefs.

The Democratic Co-Chairman is Illinois Senator Bill Cunningham (D-Chicago). His office number is (773) 445-8128.

The Republican Co-Chairman is Keith Wheeler (R-North Aurora). His office number is (630) 345-3464.

More ACTION: Here is a list of all the members of JCAR, and their individual contact information.

It is imperative that we respectfully contact these state lawmakers to urge them to reject these new divisive “standards” by the ISBE.

  1. Their is based on the 1691 Project, a doctrine of racism and identity politics meant to rewrite American history and the final piece needed to take over the department of education, our children’s understanding of history, and our country – in one generation.

    Surely not, they say!

Then why was Trumps 1776 Commission deleted from the White House website the DAY China Joe was elected?

Why are teachers unions so powerful?

And why do Democrats fight like hell to keep them that way?

We ceded the education of our children to communists almost 60 years ago.

Look at what you have now.

Hundreds of entitled, whiny psychopaths in Congress surrounded by razor wire and protected by “journalists” spreading propaganda to protect them from the “domestic terrorist insurrection”.

It actually looks a lot like 1984 meets the Third Reich.

  2. “Unearned privilege”; Isn’t that affirmative action?

These lunatics just keep making up more nonsense to blame others for their problems and manufacture endless excuses for their failures.

  3. Reick is a drunk, NeverTrumper embarrassment.

I can’t wait until Catalina defeats him next year.

Reick’s family must be so ashamed of him.

He has never been successful at anything.

  4. Possibly of interest to the authors of this blog:

That’s at least the second time this commenter, James Matthews, has said Catalina Lauf is going to run against Steve Reick in 2022.
    http://mchenrycountyblog.com/2021/01/21/reick-bill-would-move-woodstock-circle-ahead/

Does James have inside information or is this just garbage?

Certainly commenters have been wrong about things in the past, but it might be something to keep an eye on especially considering that this blog is already publishing many articles about Lauf and Reick.

  5. Reick and Catalina should both oppose this.

As far as his being a drunk, there have been many drunks who voted correctly many times. O

n another note, there are teachers who would rather retire than teach this rubbish

  6. and hence more votes for the deep state… so they will never leave Gov… lay on the taxpayer for ever!

  7. NeverTrumper Reick is a totally ineffective drunk.

    Everyone hates him!

Catalina will easily defeat him next year!
