It is so rare that I approve of what Illinois’ United States Senators Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth do that I think it appropriate to make a big deal of their latest move.
President Joe Biden has requested the resignation of all United States Attorneys.
Fair enough. He’s the new guy in town.
Yet Northern Illinois U.S. Attorney John R. Lausch, Jr., like predecessor Patrick Fitzgerald, is worth keeping around.
While the last generation of Illinois Democrats who have been indicted–or who are under intense scrutiny–would love to have a replacement, for continuity of corruption charges prosecution, that probably would not be a good idea.
So, hurrah for Senators Durbin’s and Duckworth’s request to keep Lausch in office
They just want the last ‘whities’ like Madigan & Burke out of their hair and Lazy Lausch is their tool.
This is customary when a new administration takes office.
The prior administration did the same thing.
True, but it is not customary for the two U.S. Senators in the new President’s party to ask that a U.S. Attorney be retained.
I don’t care if the prior administration did the same thing.

Why would you ask EVERYBODY to resign?
That doesn’t sound like smart government.
If they do a good job, they should stay. If they did a bad job, they get fired.

It is customary for a new administration to request such resignations across the board. Whether any such resignations aren’t accepted is a matter of executive discretion, again per custom. I assume that if both Illinois Senators requested retention it is quite possible that such resignation won’t be accepted.
Correcting, I am saying Lausch does a bad job.
Very selective prosecutions.
That’s why Duckworthless and Dirtbag Durbin swoon over him.

Oops, forgot. It should be noted the two (2) U.S. Attorneys who were not asked to resign.

Meanwhile, violent criminals and corrupt officials are actually being held accountable by Lausch.
I also have no faith Biden will appoint a better person.
They’d probably be far more “selective” in their prosecuting.
