McHenry County Covid Vaccine Update Email Angers Resident

The following email arrived on Thursday.

It was forwarded to me by Woodstock resident Susan Handelsman with this message:

“I got this email Thursday, from McHenry County,  because I have used my email to try  getting vaccines for some seniors who are not computer-savvy.

My response sent to this email:

“Many are outraged and disgusted at the headline news: 2500 (non-senior, healthy) Woodstock D200 teachers administrators and employees recently received their vaccinations with no hassle.”

Dear McHenry County Resident,

If you are receiving this email today, rest assured that you, your loved one, or someone you assisted in enrolling for the COVID-19 vaccine at a future McHenry County Department of Health (MCDH) clinic is still enrolled.

We understand that many of you are concerned about when you will receive your COVID-19 vaccinations and whether you are still on McHenry County Department of Health’s enrollment list.

We hear you.

MCDH is making every effort to get vaccine into the arms of everyone eligible who wants to be vaccinated, but supplies are limited. While the health department receives a weekly shipment of vaccine doses from the State of Illinois, there are not enough doses for everyone in Phase 1b yet.

Chairman Buehler is formally requesting more vaccine for McHenry County residents.

In the meantime, there are additional options for receiving a vaccine.

Some regional hospital systems, clinics and other community partners are vaccinating their patients that are eligible in Phase 1a and 1b and may reach out to you to schedule an appointment

There are also State and Federal partnerships with retail pharmacies in McHenry County.

You may enroll at those sites as well to have another opportunity to be vaccinated.

To find a location vaccinating near you, please visit the State of Illinois’ Vaccination Locations webpage at https://coronavirus.illinois.gov/s/vaccination-location.

Please note that each retail pharmacy has its own registration process and vaccine appointment availability varies.

If you have already enrolled with MCDH or are seeking vaccine through retail pharmacies, know that in time, everyone who wants a vaccine will get one.

We stand ready to rapidly accelerate the mass vaccination process once the doses become available.

We will get through this pandemic together, and we will stay in touch.

If you have immediate concerns, please reach out to the Health Department by emailing health@mchenrycountyil.gov or call the COVID-19 Call Center at (815) 334-4045.

Thank you for your time and understanding.

Sincerely,
Michael Buehler Chairman
McHenry County Board

Melissa Adamson
Public Health Administrator
McHenry County Department of Health

  1. Melissa Adamson is the worst thing that slithered out of the County Swamp since Jack Franks and Al Jourdan.
