Opponents of Equal Rights Amendment Win Again

“STOP ERA” the most common button red.

Illinois politicians favoring enactment of ERA decades after it failed. passed it again with the hope that the deadline set by Congress for its passage–long past–didn’t matter.

Now an Obama-appointed Federal Judge has ruled the deadline was real:

  1. There is no need for the era any longer. Plenty of laws on the books to protect every citizen.

    The pendulum has recently swung in the opposite direction of fairness what with silliness such as diversity and inclusion. The supporters of these ideas believe that positions and jobs should be filled using race, gender, sexual preference, religion, etc as criteria.

  2. It was obvious that the deadline for ratificaton had long since passed.

    Even feminist icon Ruth Bader Ginsburg said so.

    Claims that a state could ratify long after the deadline but other states could not rescind a previous ratification were utterly absurd.

    The fact that ERA supporters were willing to play such games shows how little respect that they have for the plain meaning of the law when it conflicts with what they want.

    The current administration is doing a very similar thing by refusing to enforce immigration law because they don’t like it.
