New State GOP Chairman Don Tracy Disses Governor Pritzker

From Don Tracy, Illinois Republican Party Chariman:

JB Pritzker’s Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

This past Wednesday, the central committee of the Democratic Party of Illinois met to elect a new party Chair after the reign of Mike Madigan has come to an end. For about two weeks, the hotly contested race had been forming as a proxy battle between Illinois’ two most prominent Democrats: Governor JB Pritzker vs. Senator Dick Durbin. Pritzker favored Chicago Alderman Michelle Harriss and Durbin endorsed Chicago Congresswoman Robin Kelly.

CHICAGO SUN TIMES: “Kelly beat Ald. Michelle Harris (8th) 51.7% to 48.3% in the Wednesday night balloting among the 36-members of the party’s state central committee. This first-in-generations power change in the party turned into a proxy battle between Sen. Dick Durbin, with Kelly, and Sen. Tammy Duckworth and Gov. J.B. Pritzker, up for reelection in 2022, supporting Harris.”

Unfortunately for Governor JB Pritzker, his hand-picked candidate (and the candidate Madigan also supported) lost.

The Illinois Republican Party would like to provide our sympathies to Governor Pritzker as he is in the midst of a long string of high-profile political losses. It really is sad.

As a reminder…

Tax Hike Amendment – DEFEATED

Governor Pritzker’s signature proposal – a progressive tax that was supposed to plug our budget hole and pay for all of his other promises – was soundly defeated by Illinois voters last November. Pritzker spent big on his tax hike gambit and came up short.

Senate President Kimberly Lightfort – DIDN’T HAPPEN

Pritzker and his team, including Senators Andy Manar and Heather Steans, worked overtime to get the Illinois Senate Democrats to choose Kimberly Lightford as their next Senate President. Team Pritzker lost that battle too when Lightford lost to Senate President Don Harmon. Bad feelings remain and Manar and Steans have resigned their seats.

$1 Billion Small Business Tax Hike – VOTED DOWN

Governor Pritzker thought he was walking into friendly territory when he tried to get his super-majority Democrat legislature to pass a $1 billion dollar tax hike via a bill that  “decouples”  Illinois tax law from federal tax changes under the CARES Act. He was mistaken. It failed.

Tonight’s loss was no different than the others. Governor JB Pritzker expended considerable political capital to get his way but wasn’t able to pull out a win.

As soon as Pritzker’s loss was final, the ILGOP sent out a press release relaying the message you see above – of a Governor who just isn’t very good at throwing his weight around.

The resulting media coverage followed suit and was brutal…

CHICAGO TRIBUNE“Harris’ loss was a blow to first-term Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker, who sought to consolidate power in the party with Madigan leaving the political scene.”

CHICAGO SUN-TIMES“Harris had the backing of Gov. J.B. Pritzker and U.S. Sen. Tammy Duckworth, while Kelly had the support of U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin and Speaker of the U.S. House Nancy Pelosi.”

WCIA“Though Pritzker congratulated Kelly for her win on Twitter, her win was a blow to his efforts to assert more influence over the party as its largest financier.”

Statehouse Reporter Mark Maxwell tweeted out the context of Pritzker’s latest loss, saying, “Pritzker tried to push Senator Kim Lightford as Senate President. The caucus recoiled at his involvement. She lost. He pushed Michelle Harris for party chair. She lost. He pushed decoupling with supermajorities and lost. The 2019 honeymoon is over.”

And what makes Pritzker’s latest stumble uniquely embarrassing is that as the Governor, one would think he gets to have his pick of who leads his party heading into his re-election. Capitol Fax’s Rich Miller pointed this out recently, explaining, “In most normal states the governor is the party’s titular head (and that’s also true here with Republican governors).”

There is one bright spot for Governor Pritzker, however. Pritzker’s candidate, Michelle Harris, received 48% of the vote in the contest which is an improvement over the support Pritzker’s tax hike amendment received in its stunning defeat last November (46.7%). In that battle, Pritzker threw in nearly $60 million to get his signature proposal passed, and he still lost overwhelmingly. At least Pritzker saved boatloads of money on his latest embarrassing loss.

  1. I’ll bet $1.00 and the National Debt our downtrodden governor will now take out his multiple defeats on us by extending all of the remaining Covid “rules” in perpetuity.

    Wanna bet?

  2. Pritzker, Cuomo, Newsom, all the Democrat gov’s have destroyed their states economy’s by their lack of leadership.

    Vindication for Ron DeSantis

The media vilified him for rejecting harsh lockdowns.

But Florida’s Covid-19 numbers are better than California’s or New York’s, and its economy thrives.

In the early months of the coronavirus pandemic, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo imposed strict lockdown policies—many still in place—and became the media’s golden boy.

“The governor of New York’s morning news conferences have become part of the country’s new daily rhythm,” the Washington Post’s Style section gushed in March 2020.

“He’s the strongman who can admit he’s wrong. He speaks fluently about the facts. He worries about his mother, and by extension, yours, too.”

Gov. Ron DeSantis took a different approach and was pilloried.

He was among the first to lift his state lockdown, adopting something resembling Sweden’s strategy of protecting the vulnerable while keeping businesses and schools open.

“Florida Man Leads His State to the Morgue,” read a June headline in the New Republic.

“Ron DeSantis is the latest in a long line of Republicans who made the state a plutocratic dystopia. Now he’s letting its residents die to save the plutocrats.”

A year after the virus hit the U.S., Mr. Cuomo’s luster has faded, and Mr. DeSantis can claim vindication.

The Sunshine State appears to have weathered the pandemic better than others like New York and California, which stayed locked down harder and longer.

Mortality data bear out this conclusion.

The Covid death risk increases enormously with each decade of age.

More than 80% of Covid deaths in the U.S. have occurred among seniors over 65.

They make up a larger share of Florida’s population than any other state except Maine.

Based on demographics, Florida’s per-capita Covid death rate would be expected to be one of the highest in the country.

    Nope.

  3. A Governor who cannot wipe his own rear end.

He refers to people as white goyim and black goyim.

I refer to him as a creepy marxist

  4. One defeat left off of Pritzker’s wish list last year was the defeat of his wish for unsolicited vote-by-mail ballots being sent to all registered voters last fall.

The House Democratic Women’s Caucus decided to only send VBM applications to voters who participated in certain elections.

That’s what was passed in SB1863 last year.

Not perfect, but better then what Governor Pritzker wanted.

  5. “House Democratic Women’s Caucus”?

There is also a Black Caucus.

Why special groups by gender and race.

We are supposed to be in the age of DIVERSITY and INCLUSION.

If so, then groups by race, gender, sexual preference, religion, etc must be shunned or outright banned.

  6. Pritzker is a trust fund baby who has a very serious low self esteem problem coupled with a megalomaniacal hatred of normalcy and Christianity.

The progressives like Biss mock him on their blogs.

    He’s history now.

Being Gov turned out to be a lot of trouble for the out of control eater.

  7. As America heads toward complete communism, it’s only half-erected, as proven by the half-assed skirmishes among its politicos.

When Trump threatened to arrest Queen Hillary, for example, he was only kidding, and they both knew it, for they’re in the same bed.

As for rigged elections, Kerry, too, only jokingly dawdled with the hanging chad diddle.

After being screwed by Hillary, Sanders beamingly endorsed her top shelf, naked strap-on.

At this stage, it’s only flag football, or, more accurately, fag football. Despite all the hollering, prancing and pansy pantsing, no hitting is allowed.

    See any blood?

The US is also missing its Great Dear Leader, with Clinton, Bush, Obama and Trump afforded only brief cameos as cabana boys in chief.

  8. This press release was probably better than anything the former chairman Tim Schneider produced over the course of several years.

That’s a positive development for Illinois Republicans.

Although I don’t know who would even see this…

  9. I M P E A C H !!! then him and Gov of NY can have something to talk about…
