UPDATED IL-16: Catalina Lauf Rockford Event Includes Headliners of America First

Scott Presler
Kim Klacik

Meet and greet in IL-16 on the 16th of March in Rockford features Scott Presler and Kim Klacik

As Scott Presler announced on Twitter yesterday afternoon within hours after Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R, IL-16) voted against the Second Amendment with his support of H.R. 8, the “Bipartisan Background Checks Act” in the House for approval, he will be in Rockford on Tuesday, in the 16th Congressional District.

This morning just before 6AM CST, MD-03 Republican congressional candidate, and frequent guest and guest co-host on Newsmax, Kim Klacik of Baltimore tweeted the following meme, where Presler would be on Tuesday, along with herself:

Klacik tweet: Excited to support my friend, Catalina Lauf, on Tuesday in Illinois! If you are nearby, please consider showing support. I would love to meet you

And now it’s set, and as I tweeted this morning:

The venue in eastern Rockford, within a couple of blocks of the Jane Addams Tollway (I-90/I-39) is:

Franchesco’s Restorante. From: Peer Canvas
  • 7128 Spring Creek Rd, Rockford, IL 61107

The venue has easy access from the tollway, as well as U.S. 20 from the south.

From the desk of John Lopez: While this campaign event is a “meet and greet”, this is Lauf’s kickoff for the sprint to ending the 1st quarter of 2021 on a high note in fundraising that will be made public next month when Lauf, and other declared congressional candidates, will file their campaign disclosure reports with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) by April 15.

All campaigns want to finish the calendar quarter on a high note, and the timing of the Rockford event is the Lauf campaign’s signal to finish the quarter strong.

As more information is made available, it will be shared on McHenry County Blog.

Update: Eventbrite link for free tickets

Monday morning, Catalina Lauf tweeted the Eventbrite sign-in link for the which can be accessed here:

The time for tomorrow night’s event is 7-9PM CDT.

While the event is free, it is unknown if the venue has a limit to the number of attendees, so it’s advisable to be inside early, to prevent capacity issues.

UPDATED IL-16: Catalina Lauf Rockford Event Includes Headliners of America First — 22 Comments

  1. Kim Klacik was an intelligent, well informed candidate.

She is the sort of candidate we need in the 14 th.

  2. Klacik from Baltimore. She seems very level headed. Surely she would not have condoned or excused the riots of 2015 in that city as did the lady mayor of that year. That mayor said that the rioters needed space to express their feelings.

  3. I wonder if Lauf will be able to answer basic questions coherently.

    She’s struggled in the past.

Hopefully Jim Marter will be hosting a meet and greet in Rockford soon.

  4. Matteson seems to always offer a good insight based on wisdom, commonsense or experience.

Once again he has done so.

  5. When those in power urge you to do something they can’t force you to do, you should be very skeptical.

Believe me, Fauci and Biden don’t really care about your health.

  6. When those in power urge you to do something they can’t force you to do, you should be very skeptical.

Believe me, Fauci and Biden don’t really care about your health.

  7. America First should not be used to describe Lauf. It’s obvious that people are attempting to subvert and assimilate that term into the GOP establishment and hoodwink a few gullible people. Let’s be real about what America First has meant for the last few years.

When I think of AF, I think of Nicholas J. Fuentes who started a YouTube show called “America First” many years ago (probably in 2015 or 2016). I realize its origin goes back much further, but the movement Fuentes has built is more in line with the old America First from the FDR days. The GOP establishment, not so much. How can one say Lauf is “America First” when she
    1. Does not talk about legal immigration.
    2. Worked for Bruce Rauner, who refused to say Trump’s name, as recently as 2018 (and helped Rauner in a primary against a real conservative).
    3. Did not speak up about a proposal to cancel the ICE contract in McHenry County where she lives.
    ?

I saw Pressler’s “Patriot Pledge.” This is just a way for the GOPe to handpick someone they deem is acceptable. It’s a way they can shoe out vulnerable never-Trumpers while still making sure the conversation doesn’t drift away from the approved paradigm of corporatist technocrat Democrats vs corporatist technocrat Republicans.
“The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum.” -Noam Chomsky

They can determine who the most “popular” candidate is. On polls, they can play all sorts of tricks. They can hire their own pollsters. Right now you have all these big name media people promoting Lauf and NOBODY else, just like they did in 2019/2020. Of course she’ll be more popular if there is a coordinated effort to crown her the nominee. The whole thing is rigged and a foregone conclusion that Lauf will be the most popular alternative to Kinzinger, so of course Pressler would suggest such a contract. If everybody in high places is telling you she’s the most popular candidate, she’s the most electable, then people are going to believe it. The media is manufacturing consent.

Pressler is begging the question. He knows what the result will be, because there is a national effort to influence people. The machine has already decided on Lauf. That much is obvious. And that is the reason I don’t support or trust her, because I don’t trust the GOP establishment. I think they are incompetent at best and traitors at worst.

But if anybody is going they should ask her
    1. Was the election stolen?
    2. What is your stance on vaccines?
    3. Why did you not once tell your social media followers to support Jim Oberweis or use your PAC to give him money?
    4. What do you disagree with Trump on or what could he have done better?

  8. Correcting, on your last four questions, #3a is not completely accurate.

Lauf did retweet Jim Oberweis’ first commercial last fall when he went after Congresswoman Underwood on the violence/riots.

Yes, no direct ask to vote for Oberweis, but she did signal boost his commercial & tweet.

I am going to be at the event tomorrow night in Rockford.

I don’t normally go to events like this but given Lauf took the lead to fight for independent contractors, including freelancers and gig economy workers multiple times starting in late January, and intensified the fight by tweeting multiple tweets related to opposition to the PRO Act, Lauf did something no other major candidate (with one exception) outside the state of California would talk about.

That’s one example of the real maturity/growth I’ve seen from Lauf since her primary loss.

As for Mr. Presler’s “Patriot Pledge”, I’m sure he’ll refine his idea, and whether this is only for Republicans he’s travelling the country he’s targeting because of their vote for impeachment in the House, or their vote for conviction in the Senate (Murkowski), maybe he’s limiting his Patriot Pledge to those kinds of races.

    I’ll find out first hand.

  9. Wanton, I’m wearing a mask whether it’s required or not, so wasn’t paying attention.

Didn’t see a dress code either, but I’m going business casual.

    Hope ties are optional.

  10. Opposing an awful bill that even Californians rejected is the bare MINIMUM of what we expect from people in congress and we should elevate the bar (and I’d say that every other candidate besides possibly Kinzinger feels the same way as her on this issue), but yes, John, it is good that Catalina is a vocal opponent of the bill (and not just a one time reference to it but she’s brought this up multiple times).

I’ll give her credit for that.

That being said, I still feel like it’s really icky how all these national figures are getting involved in a contest where we don’t even know what the district is going to look like.

    It feels off.

Wanton Libertarian, masks were not required at Pressler’s last event in Will County, Illinois and masks were not required when Darren Bailey was in Loves Park (which is right by Rockford).

    Plus this is a restaurant.

So my guess would be no.

  11. I’ll just say one more thing about Pressler and his pledge:

In his video about the Patriot Pledge, Pressler said we would have forums, we would look at fundraising numbers, etc. He presents it in quantitative terms. It seems the idea of the Patriot Pledge is to be neutral and wait to see, yet Pressler has not done so by endorsing Lauf.

He must feel that by whatever metrics HE establishes in the pledge, Lauf will lead. (Why does a dude who supports Lauf get to make the make the metrics for this pledge anyway? Nobody sees a problem with that?)

And he knows Lauf will lead because the establishment is behind her.

If there is a centralized effort from outside her district (like in D.C.) to make her the nominee, of course they can overwhelm other candidates with more money and advertising.

    It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy.

A good question for Pressler would be, “Since we have seen no fundraising numbers yet, since we have had no forums yet, since we don’t even know all the candidates, and since we don’t even know what the districts will look like or when the primary will be why have you chosen to be not neutral by endorsing Lauf? Why are you supporting her?”

  12. Mr Presler needs to visit Bob Anderson’s barber shop for a makeover.

  13. Miss Lauf, or rather Seniorita Lauf, or Fraulein Lauf, as the case may be, may well be the establishment candidate, but she is not mine.
