Gov. Pritzker Releases Statement on Passage of Voting Rights Bill

SPRINGFIELD — Governor JB Pritzker issued the following statement on the passage of HB 1871, a bill that authorizes local election authorities to use of drop boxes and curbside voting.

“Georgia is the most egregious example of voting rights being restricted but far too many states are making it hard to vote. Here in Illinois, we’re shining a bright light on how to make it easier, taking lessons we learned in the pandemic and applying them to the future. I applaud our General Assembly for voting to strengthen vote-by-mail opportunities here in Illinois by allowing local election authorities to use drop boxes and curbside voting. In Illinois, voters will have safe and convenient options to exercise this fundamental, constitutional right. I want to particularly thank Senator Morrison and Representative Stuart for sponsoring this legislation, and I look forward to signing this bill into law to ensure every Illinoisan, especially those who are too often left behind, have their voices heard in our government.”

  1. Ridiculous. Democrats nationwide are doing their best to destroy our Nation by passing laws, rules and procedures that enable voter fraud. Trust no Democrat anywhere on any matter, especially voting.

What is needed in every state: voter photo ID, quick and accurate purging of voters from voting rolls soon after they pass away, abolition of motor voter registration, abolition of registering to vote on election day, abolition of all early voting and absentee ballots, abolition of voting by mail, restoration of minimum age to vote from age 18 to age 21 except for U.S. citizens aged 18-20 serving in the U.S. Military, voting ONLY on the designated voting day and in person.
