Duke Energy Solar Farm Open House
Duke Energy is having an open house on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Marengo High School to discuss a proposed 2525 acre solar farm in unincorporated McHenry County, Boone County and the city of Marengo. This presentation will take place at the Marengo High School auditorium, located at 110 Franks Road in Marengo. This will be an open house, which means you can come anytime between 5:30 PM and 8:00 PM on Wednesday, April 7th.
Duke energy is having this open house for the residents so they can speak to the Duke Energy experts on topics such as project layout, health & safety, drainage, construction, operations, vegetation management, environment, and community interaction. This is a chance for the residents to learn about the project and how it may impact them. Please share this information with anyone who might be interested in learning about this project.

That project is being proposed for two reasons:
1) Government subsidies
2) Renewable energy mandates
They wouldn’t even be discussing that solar farm if it had to compete on an even playing field against other forms of energy.
