IL-14: Part 2 of Scorecard for Lauren Underwood’s Farm Team PAC-backed Candidates

With updates from the local election authorities through late Friday afternoon, here is the revised topline of Underwood’s Farm Team PAC scorecard for the April 6 Consolidated Election, based on unofficial returns:

  • Total number of endorsed candidates: 38
  • Total number of endorsed candidates in contested races: 35
  • Total wins: 19, or 50% win ratio
  • Total earned wins: 16, or 45.7% earned win ratio

The definition of “earned” and “unearned” wins can be found in the Part 1 article of the Farm Team PAC candidates performances published on McHenry County Blog on Thursday.

Here in Part 2, McHenry County Blog will review the candidates in local school board races, community college district and park districts.

Education: School Board and Community College Trustee Races

Underwood endorsed 8, 4 winners, 3 earned.

  • Indian Prairie School District 204, according to Wikipedia serves roughly 28,500 students from the Illinois communities of Aurora, Bolingbrook, Plainfield and Naperville, in DuPage and Will counties. The 11-candidate field competed for 4 seats, with two incumbents seeking reelection:
    • Incumbents Laurie Donahue and Susan Taylor-Demming, both endorsed by Underwood, cruised to reelection finishing as the top-2 wins.
    • Newcomer Kader Sakkaria lost, coming in 11th out of 11.
  • Lindsay Morley was the top vote getter in McHenry Elementary District #15, in the 5-candidate field for 4 spots, win.
  • LaTonya Simelton finished 5th out of 7 candidates competing for 4 seats in Oswego District #308 in Kendall County, loss.
  • Anna Chang-Yen won a seat in Woodland District #50 in Lake County in an uncontested race, unearned win.
  • Waubonsee Community College district in southern Kane and eastern DeKalb counties had two incumbents seeking reelection with two challengers, Giselle Gonzalez and Sandra González (no relation) endorsed by Underwood’s Farm Team PAC, who both lost.

Park Districts

Underwood endorsed 4 candidates, 3 wins, all earned.

  • Elvis Madison ran for the Joliet Park District board of commissioners in a 4-candidate field electing 3 commissioners, with Madison being the odd man out, loss.
  • Naperville Park District had 8 candidates seeking election to 4 spots on the board of commissioners, with one incumbent seeking reelection who lost his bid. Underwood backed candidates Leslie Ruffing, Mary Gibson and Alison Thompson with all 3 winning handily as the top-3 vote getters on election day, according to unofficial returns from DuPage and Will counties.
