New June State Holiday Passes Senate

If one assumes that state employees do nothing for what they are paid, this probably does not make much difference:

From the Chicago Tribune.

On the other hand, if state employees really provide some benefit, this decreases their time on the job.

The new holiday will be on June 19th, the day the last slave was freed.

And, if the holiday falls on a weekend, the next Monday is work free.

The proposal still has to go through the House and be signed by the Governor.

  1. More virtue signaling by the Dems aimed at the crowd that loves to shoot, loot, burn and murder in hopes
that this will act as a social pacifier … except it won’t.

  2. Juneteenth commemorates a proclamation by a Union general in Texas that the slaves in Texas were now free.

Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation had outlawed slavery in states in rebellion against the United States over two years before, and this general’s proclamation was simply a restatement of that.

The Emancipation Proclamation did not apply in states that were not in rebellion against the US.

Slavery didn’t cease in Delaware and Kentucky until the Thirteenth Amendment came into effect in December of 1865.

  4. Amazon sells Brawndo T-shirts and masks.

I’m going to stock up before prices skyrocket.

  5. Don’t we have a black holiday already?

    Martin Lucifer King Day!

  6. There is no need for this holiday.

All States of the U.S. should return to celebrating Republican President Abraham Lincoln’s Birthday on February 12 of every year.

The way that it was decades ago.

It was President Lincoln who fought to free the slaves and the Democrats in the U.S. Congress who were opposed.

Who knows but if for not Lincoln but a Democrat president in those years, it might have taken many more decades to free the slaves.

Fast forward one hundred years later to the 1960’s and the passage of the Civil Rights Act.

Republican members of the US Congress, Senate and House, voted in greater percent of their membership FOR the Act.

    Democrats were dragging their feet.

The father of Al Gore, Senator Gore of TENN voted AGAINST the Civil Rights Act.

One of the biggest racists, by nature of his numerous racist remarks over the years, is the doofus, buffoon, senile, plagiarist, alleged rapist in the whitehouse today.

  7. Story Bred, I disagree about Lincoln, the Great Charlatan and destroyer of the Constitution.

How about a holiday for Garfield?

He prevented the establishment of a federal reserve like banking syndicate.

And paid for it with his life for ‘insulting’ the corrupt Rothschild emissaries.

  8. Just MO FREE CHEESE… for the lazy’s… who barley work not for their Pensions! what a joke
