Another Example of Why Those with Pot Should Drive Legally — 7 Comments

  1. “Speeding 35+”

    Bro what weed is this???”

Obviously a sativa but like… you sure that aint laced with meth?

  2. I find it to be hilarious that pot is legal…

But only if you buy it from the government dealers.

  3. Pres elect, they aren’t technically “government dealers” — pot shops are not like an ABC store — but they are government LICENSED private dealers.

The taxes and regulations are incredibly burdensome for the operators and obviously the costs get passed down to the consumers which is why you might pay 80 bucks for an 8th…

Nobody can refute this because just a month or two ago a bunch of blacks were saying how pissed off they were that there are hardly any black owned pot shops in the state.

The state even had hearings on it.

My belief is it’s got nothing to do with them being black and discriminated against (we’ve had laws against that for many decades), it has more to do with them being poor and unable to start a business in such a highly taxed and regulated “market.”

Nobody can argue against the fact that black people, on average, are poorer than white people.

Nobody can argue that paying 30 percent sales tax is “fair” either.

Sales taxes in general are regressive and hurt poor people the most, especially when measured as a percentage of their income.

Plus it’s not like anybody can start a business — the government limits the supply both of the number of grow ops as well as the number of dispensaries, so even if you want to start a business and have the means, you still might not get approved, and best case scenario it will take a lot of time and money.

You gotta get clearance both from state government as well as several layers of local government.

    It’s not easy.

My friend’s friend is trying to start one in McHenry County and he’s having a hell of a hard time, and this dude is rich…

    It’s a scam.

It’s another way the government engages in usurious practices to fleece average people.

Meanwhile these high hog government people are slurping adrenochrome and evading taxes… total scumbags!

That’s why I say “Free the weed, legalize the seed.”

In other words, we should ease off on homegrowers.

  4. Ok than the rest of us can drive with open container…

    whats good for one goose…

    as they say…

i mean look at ol eddie johnson busted for DUI and nothing happens….

to bad MADD was not around to do anything about that one..

  5. Correcting: I only say it from a perspective of sarcasm.

It is highly controlled, deliberately intended to restrict competition, AND to keep it “illegal” for those who don’t (can’t) participate in the licensing / distribution process.

You wanna keep the tax revenues high, restrict who can “legally” sell it so that only certain sources have a monopoly on this product.

It’s a tightly controlled market that’s been in development here for the past decade or so, starting w/ the medical marijuana growers that popped up when Obama was in office and under Pat Quinn.

We could debate the technicalities but the fact of the matter is that it’s not a free market substance here and there is all sorts of red tape.

This is crony capitalism at its finest.

  6. Open container violations get you a ticket.

You don’t get arrested for it. It’s considered a petty offense.

Your anger at Eddie Johnson has nothing to do with the law.

    DUI is illegal.

The issue with Eddie Johnson was corruption and who the prosecutor is, it has nothing to do with the law being inadequate to deal with him.

Higher ups made a political decision to not deal with him at all.

Democrats say they want parity between pot and alcohol but they don’t even understand the laws.

They’ll say “alcohol is taxed so why shouldn’t pot be taxed” but they never say what those tax rates are for comparison.

They don’t understand the difference between ad valorem and excise taxes either.

And Republicans are useless on this issue.

Having weed in a non government approved container does not mean you are consuming it.

I think of it more analogous to having a can of beer on your car floor.

There’s no proof that you were using it just because it’s not in a government approved container.
