UPDATED: IL-06/IL-14/IL-16: Financial Disclosure Statements Round-up (Lauf and Lombardi)

Saturday, May 15, was the deadline for Members of Congress and congressional candidates to submit their Financial Disclosure statements (FD) to the clerk of the House/Senate.

For a refresher, here is what a FD report is, and it is separate from Federal Election Commission (FEC) campaign disclosure filings:

Financial Disclosure Reports Definition from House Clerk’s website (Legacy)

As stated above, the FD required by the Ethics in Government Act of 1978 (EIGA), and the Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge (STOCK) Act of 2012 mandates online public access to FD filings within 30 days of receipt, which is usually only a couple of days if filed electronically.

FDs are required when a candidate’s spend and/or receipts for their campaign exceeds a total of $5K. Once the candidate hits their threshold, their FD or request for extension must be filed by either May 15 or 30 days after exceeding the $5K amount, whichever is later.

In the three House districts being tracked on McHenry County Blog, the IL-06, IL-14 and IL-16, the three incumbent Members of Congress, plus candidate Catalina Lauf, are required to file their FD or an extension, by May 15.

Thus far, the three incumbents, Congressmen Sean Casten and Adam Kinzinger, and Congresswoman Lauren Underwood, filed 90-day extensions, making their new due date for their FDs August 13.

To date (through June 2), Lauf’s FD/extension does not appear on the House clerk’s website, though I am assuming she filed her paperwork late last week, and is still being processed to be posted on the website in the next 2-3 business 17 days.

A reminder what an FD is NOT:

Of the remaining candidates in the IL-16:

  • UPDATE: Catalina Lauf filed a 90-day extension on May 15, which took 17 days to be posted online, appearing today, June 2 (as noted above, the STOCK Act gives the House/Senate clerk 30 days to make a filing publicly accessible online). Lauf’s new FD due date is August 13.
  • James Marter filed his FD last week, and it’s available to view here (it is noted, Marter was not required to file since he has not yet raised/spent $5K for his 2022 race, but he chose to file anyway)
  • UPDATE: Jack Lombardi has not filed his FD 90-day extension on May 14, or was he required due to not filing an FEC report for the first quarter of 2021, presumably because he had not raised/spent $5K making his due date August 13.
  • Teresa Pfaff, as documented on McHenry County Blog on April 26, filed her FD last month though she was not required to do so
  • Democrat Marsha Williams filed her FD on March 3, though she was not required to do so, and it can be viewed here
  • Dr. Leona di Amore has yet to file any paperwork with the FEC for her candidacy since her publicized announcement in late March, so she hasn’t qualified in any way to be required to submit an FD
  • Geno Young did not file his FD and he is not required since he has not reached the $5K threshold

  1. pathetic

Go look up how much money Kinzinger has.

Look up how much Underwood has.

    How can these people compete?

    That’s why I don’t run for office.

Even though I can beat everybody in debate and I am really really really good looking, I just don’t have the money or connections.

  2. Where is rat Kinzie, our closet case ‘flipper,’ going to run now?
