Algonquin Township Switches Attorneys

When the 2017 terms of Algonquin Township officials began Jim Kelly was attorney for both the Township and the Road District.

Now he is the attorney for neither.

Former Township Road Commissioner Andrew Gasser replaced James Kelly with Robert Hanlon early into his term.

At last month’s meeting for the newly-sworn-in officers, the Board appointed Carlos Arevalo of the SmithAmundson Law Firm (Chicago and Crystal Lake locations) as attorney for both the Township and Road District.

“We approved a resolution to cap attorney fees at $300 per hour and require the attorney’s to carry malpractice coverage of at least $1,000,000,” newly-elected Supervisor Randy Funk wrote.

A member of the firm represented victorious Republican Supervisor candidate Funk in his successful effort to thwart a referendum to abolish Algonquin Township.

  1. All charges against Miller were dropped.

Gasser wasted a ton of tax $$$$$ making Hanlon happy, payback for political contributions.

There is still the leftovers of the Dog’s piling on to be paid for.

Stop being whiners and do the work to prove this township is wasteful, then the petition going to eliminate.

  2. The Nob, how much did the Millers pay off Kenneally? A pretty penny!

  3. Nob’s consistent droning is monotonous.

Gasser did what the McHenry County body politic would not.

Yes Gasser spent over a million dollars exposing corrupt practices – he also fixed a lot of roads and built a bridge that Miller said wouldn’t happen.

Gasser isn’t a saint but he isn’t what Robin Mohr says either.

Just ask the people on his own street.

Gasser fixed that Miller debacle too.

  4. I’ve said this before.

Just after Miller was defeated and Gasser took office, Miller conspired with his family members who were hired in an extreme example of nepotism run amok, to form a union.

Usually unions are formed against the wishes of employers but in this case the employer and employees colluded to form the union to stick Gasser with people who would likely be disloyal Miller moles who would try to sabotage his tenure as Road Commissioner.

Once this was done, the labor laws basically make it a done deal.

However, Gasser fought it anyway and dragged it out in the courts long enough for him to get done what he set out to do and leave at the end of his term with mission accomplished.

Yes, it cost a pretty penny which was paid buy the taxpayers but it was all brought on by Bob Miller’s perfidy.

So place the blame where it belongs.

    Talking to you Nob.

  5. Kelly was a really, really bad Atty for Algonquin Township.

    Who was crooked!?

Ask Kelly. He covered up a lot of smelly dirt over the years. But it came back to haunt him.

Now he must parasitize off some new hosts.

  6. Corn Pop. Is there a connection in the Acosta case? Rebecca (Miller) Lee representing Acosta in McHenry County, Keneally prosecutor? “A tangled web” perhaps.

  7. Didn’t know Bobby Miller’s daughter was repping Acosta.

    It sure figures though.

Actually, I’m glad, he’ll get soaked for bad representation.

Maybe Chmiel will get in trouble again for lying!
