Memories of High School

A Booster Rockit cartoon brought back to the Crystal Lake Community High School Honor Society-sponsored dance in 1960.

Wire had been used to string crape paper on and it was clean-up time.

Our sponsor, Mr. Witt, asked me to gather up the wire that had been lowered from the second-floor railings of field house.

I started to wind it up so it could be re-used.

Mr. Witt admonished me to “Hurry up!”

Disgusted, I dropped what I had done, turned to him and said,

“What’s worth doing is worth doing well” and walked out of the Field House.

  1. This post is like those PSAs that promote traditional values and good life lessons crossed with teenage angst and rebelliousness.

    What a cool synthesis.

    Thanks for the story.

    But you left out the aftermath.

    Did you get a detention for insubordination?
