Eyewitness Account of Appointment of Brian Dianis as Algonquin Village Trustee

From a Friend of McHenry County Blog:

Nobody showed up and Dianis was unanimously approved

So much for the fireworks.

The June 8th Algonquin village meeting was a dud!

It was the most anti-climactic government meeting I have ever seen and I have been to dozens of meetings.

At the 7:25 special meeting to appoint Brian Dianis, only one person spoke and it was about mental health. He said something about an incident that happened 9 years ago.

Nobody spoke for or against the appointment of Brian Dianis.  Algonquin is a village with over 30,000 people but apparently nobody cared enough about Dianis’s appointment to speak one way or another

It turns out that the Dundee Township Republicans, who posted on Facebook that they didn’t want Dianis appointed, are all bark and no bite.

Dundee Township Republicans acted upset on Facebook but they didn’t bother speaking or even attending the meeting.  Algonquin Township Republicans were absent as well.

By making a statement on social media and not following through with real life action, local Republicans have exposed themselves as paper tigers.

If the roles were reversed, you could be certain that Democrats and leftists would have taken action beyond Facebook posting.

Brian Dianis was approved by unanimous vote

Immediately following the vote, he was sworn into office.

So much for Dundee Township Republicans “hoping” he would not be appointed.

Let that be a lesson for everyone regardless of their opinion about this particular appointment.

Hoping something will go your way is not sufficient — not in politics, not at work, not in relationships, not in anything.

Dedicated action is what moves things, and even that does not guarantee success.

After the special meeting ended, the 7:30 committee of the whole meeting started and lasted about 5 minutes before being adjourned.

There were about half a dozen people in the audience.

Most people in the building did not wear masks but the board members had plastic barriers between them.

In other news, gas in Algonquin is prohibitively expensive. It was between 3.40 and 3.45 per gallon. Across the border in Wisconsin, it is 2.99.

  1. Well, why didn’t this observer say anything?

Don’t worry, Dianis is a stink fink who made it on a little list.

That’s not a good list to wind up on.

    Comeuppance time.

    It’s coming.
