Running for the Republican Nomination for Governor, Paul Schimpf Courts Voters at McHenry County Fair

Paul Schimpf, Naval Academy graduate, spent a good deal of time with this Navy veteran.

Former State Senator Paul Schimpf was at the McHenry County Fair Saturday afternoon.

Paul Schimpf courted people passing by the Republican booth.

He engages in retail campaigning at the Republican Party booth in the air conditioned building.

Four young women, including the running up for McHenry County Fair Queen spent a great deal of time listening to what Paul Schimpf . had to say.

There was plenty of traffic between the Fairgrounds and the food line at the back of the building.

Paul Schimpf handed out a recipe of his own design for pizza which he noted was large enough to fan oneself with.

While Schimpf was courting voters, his former State Senate colleague Dan McConchie came in with his wife.

After the McConchies left for the Grandstand to hear the band Kansas (whose leader singer is a cousin to the woman who managed McConchie’s 2016 primary election campaign), Paul Schimpf had a talk with gun training entrepreneur Tonya Franklin. Franklin is the one who was willing to run against Jack Franks in the year of the Tea Party, but was stopped by then-McHenry County Republican Party Chairman State Rep. Mike Tryon.

John and Cheryl Hammerand chat with Paul Schimpf.

Reaching the six o’clock time, I decided to leave just as former McHenry County Board member John Hammerand and his wife Cheryl came up.

Schimpf ran a credible campaign against Lisa Madigan for Attorney General, capitalizing on his role in the prosecution of Saddam Hussein while he was in the Judge Advocate’s Corps.

He then served a four-year term in the Illinois State Senate.

He was in line to be appointed a Federal Circuit Court Judge by Donald Trump, but Democratic Party Senator Dick Durbin put the kibosh on that opportunity, even though Schimpf had passed muster by Durbin’s advisory committee.

  1. I made it by the booth and the attendees did a great job of educating and fielding questions.

Thumbs up to Committeeman, Theresa Fronczak, #42 Precinct.

  2. Schimpf has extensive experience that will make him an Excellent Governor for Illinois!

  3. The County Fair is a joke – a mild freak show, really.

Politicians at the County Fair is the bottom of the barrel.

The port-a-potties are more pleasant a sight.

  4. Piton came after I had to leave Saturday and Rabine was there Friday.

  5. How can they call it the GOP booth with RINOS like Reick, McConchie and Kenneally featured in the posters?

    Schimpf is a wimpf.

He won’t criticize CRT, or BLM.

  6. Does Paul Schimph have a plan to reduces Illinois’ nation leading 9,000 local governments?

What about townships, the elephant in the room???

  7. Dingo- you’re wrong!

He was the first one to develop a Parents Bill of Rights!

    You should read it!

If you take the time to know Paul and speak with him. You’ll quickly understand that he’s a leader and his service and leadership and ideas to fix Illinois are exactly what we need in our next Governor!

  8. Again, CLM … since you “love Catalina” so much … did you not know she spent a ton of time at the place you call a “joke” ??? #AskingForAFriend

  9. Do Schimpf ‘prosecuted’ Saddam? I’ll never vote for that wipe.

What shrimp Schimpf did is a war crime.

He and Bush the lesser should stand trial.

  10. HavingFaith – I don’t understand you.

I totally support Catalina Lauf – I don’t know why you have a problem with a conservative voter supporting a conservative candidate.

I have nothing against Marter or Schimpf.

Just because I support their opponents in the primary doesn’t mean I have to “dislike” Marter or Schimf.

    Chill out…support Republicans.

I just wish Marter, Schimf, and Rabine would be stronger – especially when they wuss out on Trump support.

They seem too interested in being loved by the press.

News: The press hate all Republican conservatives; they only tolerate wimpy RINOS for a while.

  11. Schimpf is a no on my list.

He is a Raunerite and a fake.
