U.S. Senate 2022: Fundraising Through Q2, 2021

Rob Cruz

With half of 2021 now in the books, Rob Cruz emerged as U.S. Senate fundraising leader among Republican candidates

Last month, Federal Election Commission (FEC) campaign disclosure filings were due for the 2nd Quarter of 2021.

Among the declared Republican candidates for the U.S. Senate to challenge first term Democrat Senator Tammy Duckworth (D, Hoffman Estates), School Board Member Rob Cruz emerged as the fundraising leader among Republicans, per FEC filings through June 30.

As the field of Republican U.S. Senate candidates was introduced here on McHenry County Blog back in early May, Oak Lawn Community High School District #229 Board Member Rob Cruz was fresh off his April 6 victory in the school board election and had just been sworn-in at the end of April.

With help from fundraising activity including in late May an event headlined by Scott Presler, Cruz emerged as the leader in fundraising for the 2nd Quarter.

The others, Peggy Hubbard and Tim Arview, are not close, and Allison Salinas has been rumored to be dropping out of the race, due to litigation as reported on McHenry County Blog on May 10. Salinas did not file a 2nd Quarter report with the FEC.

Bobby Piton

Geneva portfolio manager Bobby Piton filed his FEC paperwork for the U.S. Senate in late June, but his campaign had not raised/spent $5K to require a 2nd Quarter campaign disclosure filing. When the 3rd Quarter FEC reports are filed in mid October, will Piton be the new fundraising leaders among Republicans? Remains to be seen, as Piton launched his candidacy over the 4th of July weekend including appearing at the Crystal Lake Independence Day parade.

According to Piton’s campaign, he’ll be at the McHenry County Fair’s Republican booth at Noon today (Saturday, 8/7), so voters can meet and talk with him at that time.

Peggy Hubbard

As previously reported by Cal here on McHenry County Blog on Thursday, Peggy Hubbard visited the McHenry County Republican Party’s booth earlier this week.

If other U.S. Senate candidates visiting the McHenry County Fair this weekend, it is not known to McHenry County Blog.

  1. People are receiving mail from Piton.

Could someone with a scanner scan it and send it over to Cal or John?

Or if you have a good camera.

  2. Do you think there are any lessons from the Shontel Brown vs Nina Turner race?

  3. Oh boy! Rob has $27K and Duckworth has $4.9M.

Hell, he doesn’t even qualify for a complimentary set of steak knives at that pace.

  4. **Do you think there are any lessons from the Shontel Brown vs Nina Turner race?**

Don’t bad mouth the populat sitting POTUS from your own party and then try to run in a primary.

  5. Hey Monk, are you even a Republican?

From your posts, I can’t believe it.
