IL-14: Lauren Underwood Purchases First Illinois Home in Naperville

Lauren Underwood

Reviewing the sophomore congresswoman’s Financial Disclosure statement filed on August 13, personal residence mortgage disclosure reveals the home purchase in December of 2020

While reviewing the Financial Disclosure statement (FD) of Congresswoman Lauren Underwood (D, IL-14), something new appeared that had not been included in Underwood’s previous FD filings:

Schedule D Liabilities from Lauren Underwood FD Filing 8/13/21

Based on this information and research McHenry County Blog performed, it is confirmed the sophomore congresswoman has purchased a home in Naperville, which closed in late December and was recorded in mid January of 2021.

Underwood’s existing Will County voter registration was updated to reflect her new home’s address in mid-March, making the new home her official primary residence, and will be the address her 2022 nominating petitions will display when petition circulation begins in January for the 2022 primary on June 28.

Members of Congress are required by law to document the mortgage liability information for their personal residences. Congressional candidates are not required to reveal their mortgage liability for their personal residence (though many candidates include this data, it’s not required).

To my knowledge, the home purchase is the first real estate property owned by Underwood in Illinois under her name.

Given how recent FD filing of Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (R, CO-03) and the U.S. House Ethics Committee proceedings against Congressman Tom Malinowski (D, NJ-07) due to not filing timely information to his FD, it’s great to learn when someone does their documenting a life-change like their first home purchase the right way, as Underwood has done.

Clearly, Underwood is setting down roots in her own name in Illinois purchasing a first home in the town where she grew up.

Underwood’s entire FD filing from August 13 for the 2020 calendar year can be viewed here.

  1. I’m surprised she’s not buying a place in Mchenry County now that they fly the LGBTQ flag at the county government building.

  2. In pictures, why does this lady always to appear to be by eyes and facial expression to be a deer in the headlights?

  3. Really big teeth. It looks like her skeleton is trying to crawl out of her body through her mouth.

  4. It’s a story of all the injustices inflicted on a gay woman of color, elected by racists and subjugated to the trappings of a $500 K suburban lifestyle. .

  5. Dying Beltran, the point is to flush out foul turds like you.

    Mission Accomplished!

Why don’t you follow this BLM worshipper’s advice and depart.

  6. Sorry Cuke-afraid-to-use-my-own-name, I intend to outlive all of you. In spite.

  7. Commenter “Robert Beltran” is a fan of the old Star Trek: Voyager TV show, and uses the actor’s name for his screen name here on McHenry County Blog.

The first officer of the U.S.S. Voyager was Commander Chakotay, and was played by actor Robert Beltran. Chakotay was a Native American (Beltran is Hispanic in real life) who was part of a Federation planet where Native Americans accepted relocation from Earth as repayment to Native Americans for losing their ancestral lands, but was transferred to Cardassian control in the 6th season of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

The Federation inhabitants revolted against being moved to Cardassian control and formed the resistance group, The Maquis, named after the Allied resistance cells in occupied Europe during World War II (played out in the 2nd season of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine).

The Maquis storyline was the backstory for the Star Trek: Voyager series, and in the pilot, a Maquis cell led by Chakotay were forced to merge with the Star Fleet crew of Voyager under command of Captain Katherine Janeway to make the 70 years return home (which the writers cut down to 7 during the 7-seasons run of the show from January 1995 to June of 2001), and to make crew merger work, Chakotay was named by Janeway to be her first officer.

Probably more info than needed, but I think the back story shines a light on some of “Robert Beltran”‘s comments here on the blog.

The actor did other roles on other shows, including the short-lived Models, Inc., a spin-off of the old Melrose Place, and Beltran played a cop and became the romantic interest of the modeling agency owner, played by Linda Gray (yup, Sue Ellen Ewing actress from Dallas…couldn’t resist a subtle shout-out to “D J” who commented on this article).
