Angela Koscavage Running for Nunda Township Clerk

February 25, 2013 By: Cal Skinner Category: Angela Koscavage, Nunda Township Clerk, Susan Jennings

Here’s another submission by a candidate that I haven’t gotten to until now.

She is Angela Koscavage, running for Nunda Township Clerk.

Here is a

Short bio for Angela (Ang) P. Koscavage

Angela Koscavage

Angela Koscavage

Angela, and her husband Clem have resided in Nunda Township for the past 25 years. They have two children.

She was employed as secretary/corporate librarian to the V.P. of Finance of a public gas company for five years, where she took corporate board minutes and maintained library files.

For twenty years, at Family Tutoring, Angela served as a liaison between parents and teachers and maintained accurate records during I.E.P. meetings as well as privately tutoring learning differenced children in reading and writing skills.

Angela has served the township as an election judge over the last twelve years. She has also filled in at the Supervisor’s Office during sicknesses and vacations. She has removed her name off as an election judge while a candidate in the February 26th election.

Currently, Angela works for Willow Creek Community Church part-time as the
assistant to the Director of Community Care and Equipping. She aids with the Monday evening support classes and also serves as a care pastor. She feels she has a giftedness in offering compassion. Walk-ins and those phoning the church with financial and emotional needs are greeted by Angela. She maintains accurate in-take notes and also serves as a care pastor.

“I choose to treat everyone in need with dignity and grace. Everyone has a story and until you hear it or have walked in their shoes, you can’t judge.” Angela is also a cancer survivor.

When asked why she is running for Nunda Township Clerk she said, “I am qualified, experienced and realize the importance in collecting and maintaining verbatim minutes.

I was recently asked by one of the committeemen,

“What would you do if someone would approach you on changing the wording to the minutes..say the Supervisor? How would you respond?”

“I said, my answer would be NO.

“I’d rather step down from the position than to do anything that wasn’t right.

“Verbatim has one definition I go by.I am accountable to someone higher than Nunda Township employees…God.

“I’m not a politician..but a citizen of the township who knows I can treat the position with a great deal of professionalism and the people of our township with the respect and dignity they deserve.”

Angela enjoys photography and family time. There is nothing like watching a Star Wars marathon with the family.

Irene Napier Pens Support of Pro-Life Candidates in Algonquin & Nunda Townships

February 25, 2013 By: Cal Skinner Category: Algonquin Township, Algonquin Township Trustee, Angela Koscavage, Bridgett Provenzano, Chuck Lutzow, Dan Shea, Irene Napier, Larry Emery, Linda Lance, Lowell Cutsforth, Lowell Cutsworth, Melissa Sanchez, Nunda Township, Nunda Township Road Commissioner, Nunda Township Supervisor, Rob Parrish, Russell Cardelli

Look what I found distributed by the Crystal Lake Tea Party:

REMINDER OF TOWNSHIP ELECTIONS ON TUESDAY. THIS IS THE CLOSEST GOVERNMENT REPRESENTATION WE HAVE. BE SURE TO VOTE!

For what it is worth here are my personal recommendations for Nunda Township (of which I am a resident)

  • Road Commissioner: Rob Parrish
  • Supervisor: Bridgett Provenzano
  • Clerk: Angela Koscavage

Letter from Irene Napier in support of Pro-life candidates in Algonquin Township:

Dear Pro-Life Supporter,

I was going to sit this election out, but two Pro-Lifers running for Algonquin Township Trustee are being slandered.

One is Melissa Sanchez, a 22-year old recent college grad (who has a job already!). Melissa, from Lake in the Hills, took a bus to the Pro-Life Washington demonstration three years ago and ended up meeting the young man she is going to marry. She is running with Larry Emery of Crystal Lake.

The key issue is pay raises voted for by three incumbent Trustees—Dan Shea and Lowell Cutsforth, plus Linda Lance, running for Township Clerk.

Both Melissa and Larry are being accused of voting to raise their own salaries.

The absurdity of the falsehood being spread is obvious when you think about it.

How could two candidates who are not in office have voted to raise their own salaries?

Such a “Big Lie” approach has been used successfully in politics before.

Shame on us if we let it work next Tuesday, when the Republican primary election is held.

What kind of a world do we live in when supporters of politicians spread outright lies about a recent retiree and a young woman inspired to try to improve things by entering public service?

Shouldn’t we be encouraging people like her and her friend Larry Emery, another Pro-Lifer, to stay involved in a political process that most of us would rather ignore because it is so often so dirty?

To summarize, there are three people on the ballot who voted to raise township salaries:

  •         Dan Shea running for Trustee
  •         Lowell Cutsforth running for Trustee
  •         Linda Lance running for Clerk

There is one candidate, a current Trustee, running for re-election who led the fight to cut salaries

  •         a Pro-Lifer named Russ Cardelli.

And there are the two candidates opposed to higher salaries who are being lied about

  •         Melissa Sanchez
  •         Larry Emery

Finally, a well-known Pro-Lifer named

  •         Chuck Lutzow

is running for Township Clerk against a woman who voted to raise salaries.

Vote as you please, but please vote.

Four-Way Race for Nunda Township Supervisor

November 28, 2012 By: Cal Skinner Category: Angela Koscavage, Bridgett Provenzano, Don Kopsell, Ed Dvorak, Eddie Gil, John Hiesler, Kerry Leigh, Lee Jennings, Mike Lesperance, Mike Shorten, Nunda, Nunda Township, Republican Party, Republican Primary Election, Robert Parrish, Susan Jennings, Tom Palmer

John Heisler

Lee Jennings

Bridgett Provenzano

I have given up trying to understand Nunda Township Republican politics.

Township Supervisor John Heisler, a former McHenry County Board member, is being challenged by three people.

Heisler, whose family’s name has been associated with Crystal Lake since his grandfather started a shoe repair shop across from the railroad station in 1908, won his first election in 2001 with a write-in campaign running against Mike Walkup.

So, beating him will be a real challenge.

Usually, the more opponents, the better for the incumbent in a primary election.

Even so, three have lined for the opportunity:

  • Bridgett Provenzano (current Township Clerk and wife of County Board member Nick Provenzano)
  • Kelvin Lee Jennings (current Trustee)
  • Kerry Leigh (Oakwood Hills Trustee)

Don Kopsell

Running for Highway Commissioner are

  • Incumbent Don Kopsell
  • Robert Parrish (Crystal Lake, Supervisor, Geske & Sons Asphalt Paving)
  • Mike Lesperance (Lakemoor, owner of Iron Mike’s Excavating)

For Assessor, no one is challenging incumbent Dennis Jagla.

Two are running for the Clerk’s position, which Provenzano is vacating to run for Supervisor:

  • Angela Koscavage (Community Care Assistant to the Director of Community Care and Equipping with Crystal Lake Willow Creek Community Church)
  • Susan Jennings

For Trustee there are only four candidates for the four positions:

  • Tom Palmer (Crystal Lake, incumbent)
  • Ed Dvorak (Crystal Lake, former Road Commissioner and County Board member)
  • Eddie Gil (Holiday Hills, husband of County Board member-elect Mary McClellan, retired trucking company owner, property investor)
  • Mike Shorten (Crystal Lake,Vice Chairman of the Nunda Township Republican Party)

Bowing out as Trustees are Joni Smith and Jim Schlader.
