DEFENDANT TYWON WILLIAMS SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS IN THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS FOR ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY

Louis A. Bianchi, McHenry County State’s Attorney, announces that 25 year old Tywon Williams, formerly of Winthrop Harbor, was sentenced to 15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the Class 1 offense of Attempted Armed Robbery.

On November 18, 2012, the Defendant, along with two accomplices, attacked and robbed the victim, Junious Norfleet, inside his Hebron apartment.

The Defendant along with two accomplices tied up Norfleet and demanded money.

Norfleet was beaten and suffered injuries to his face, the back of his head, and back.

This case was investigated by the Hebron Police Department.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorneys Robert Zalud and David Metnick.

On Wednesday, October 31, 2012, Crystal Lake Police arrested a 29-year-old Crystal Lake resident for Armed Robbery and Theft.

The suspect, Eric S. Sorenson (m/w d.o.b. 11/30/1982) of 198 Lake Court, Crystal Lake, IL. was criminally charged for the Armed Robbery, which occurred on September 2nd, at the CVS Pharmacy, located at 1305 Randall Road Crystal Lake.

Taken in the robbery were 3 bottles of Oxycodone.

Police executed the arrest warrant Wednesday evening at the Sorenson home.

Due to the seriousness of this incident and a concern for weapons; Crystal Lake Police Department’s Emergency Services Team was activated and assisted Investigators with the warrant service.

Mr. Sorenson was taken into custody without incident.

Mr. Sorenson was transported back to Police Headquarters and formally processed for

  • (1ct.) of Armed Robbery (Class X Felony).

He was additionally charged with

  • (1 ct.) of Theft over $500.00
  • (Class 3 Felony) for obtaining unauthorized control over a semi-automatic handgun that belonged to his father.

Eric Sorenson was subsequently transported to the McHenry County Jail.

Sorenson’s next Court date is set for November 28, 2012. Bond set at $100,000.00.

The successful conclusion of this 2 month criminal case was due to a collaborative effort between the Crystal Lake Police, the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco & Firearms and the McHenry County State’s Attorney Office.

Marengo Robbers Apprehended in Wonder Lake by Sheriff’s Deputies

A press release from the Marengo Police Department:

On Friday, August 17th at approximately 4:11a.m., the Marengo Police were investigating a disturbance in the 800 block of Dietz Street.

The original call for service came in as a possible home invasion in progress with possible shots being fired.

Other calls were received regarding the noise from the weapon discharge.

During the police officers’ response subject(s) who were trying to gain entry to a house left the area in a vehicle which was fired upon by the resident, Mr. Benjamin Secor.

No one was injured by the shooting.

Subsequently the offender(s) left the scene and were intercepted by the McHenry County Sheriffs Police in the area of Wonder Lake, Illinois and taken into custody pending charges from Marengo.

Currently Mr. Donald P. Crotty Jr. (m/w dob 04/06/1990) of 1107 Pontiac Avenue, McHenry, Illinois is being charged with one count of Attempted Criminal Trespass to Residence and one count of Reckless Conduct.

Mr. Crotty was able to post the required bond amount for these charges and was released pending a court date of September 6th, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at the McHenry County Court House.

A second suspect, Mr. Robert Benard (dob / address unknown) accompanying Mr. Crotty has not been charged at this point.

The investigation continues into this matter and more details and possible additional charges will be forthcoming as they develop.

28-Year Old Algonquin Woman Arrested after Search of Crystal Lake Motel Room

Arrest made in Crystal Lake Robbery

On Thursday, August 2nd, 2012 at approximately 4:14 p.m., Crystal Lake Police were dispatched to a report of a Robbery which occurred at the Cody’s Farm Fresh Stand, located on the property of 140 South Virginia Street, Crystal Lake.

Upon arrival Officers met with the employee of Cody’s.

The employee advised he was approached by the suspect, who displayed a knife, demanding money, and implied the imminent use of force.

The employee then provided the suspect with cash from the day’s sales.

A description of the suspect was provided, and with the assistance of witnesses, a suspect was soon located.

Police obtained a search warrant for a room at the nearby Crystal Lake Motel, which upon execution revealed evidence further linking the suspect to the incident.

Amy M. Migliorato (28) of 5 Arrowhead Drive, Algonquin, IL was arrested and charged with one count of Robbery, a class 2 Felony, in violation of Illinois Compiled Statutes Chapter 720 Act 5 Section 18-1.

Unable to post the required bond, Migliorato was transferred to the McHenry County Jail.

Her next court appearance reference this incident is scheduled for August 10th, 2012 at 9:00 AM, at the McHenry County Courthouse.

Armed Robbery at Route 14 Farm Produce Stand

“On Thursday, August 2nd, 2012 at approximately 4:14 p.m., Crystal Lake Police were dispatched to a report of an Armed Robbery which occurred at the Cody’s Farm Fresh Stand, located on the property of 140 South Virginia Street, Crystal Lake.

“The victim advised he was approached by an unknown female/white subject.

“The female displayed a knife and implied the imminent use of force.

“The victim then provided the suspect with an undisclosed amount of United States Currency.

“The suspect who was described as a white female, approximately 5’9”, 170-180 lbs., wearing an orange jersey fled the area on foot.

“A person of interest is being questioned, and criminal charges are expected to follow.

“Crystal Lake Police continue to investigate this matter and are confident no related public threat remains at this time.”.

FRG Armed Robbery Leads Police to Request Help

Area where 19-year old was robbed of $400 by three Latino teens.

An email from the Fox River Grove Police Chief:

Fox River Grove Police Department is investigating an Armed Robbery that occurred at approximately 10:50 A.M. this morning in the area of School Street and Mound Street.

A 19 year old male from Fox River Grove was walking along School Street when he was approached from behind by three subjects, one armed with a knife, who demanded all his cash.

The victim handed one of the offenders $400.00.

The offenders then fled the area W/B School Street toward Northwest Highway.

The offenders are described as:

  1. Male/Hispanic, 16 years of age, 5’09″, thin build, wearing a blue ski mask and a dark brown hooded sweat shirt
  2. Male/Hispanic, 16 years of age, 5’06″, medium build, wearing a black ski mask and a tan hooded sweat shirt
  3. Male/Hispanic, 16 years of age, 5’06″, medium build, wearing a black ski mask and a tan hooded sweat shirt, armed with a knife

Spring Grove’s Mark Kozik Sentenced to 18 Years for Armed Robbery

MARK KOZIK SENTENCED TO EIGHTEEN YEARS IN THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS FOR ARMED ROBBERY

Louis A. Bianchi, McHenry County State’s Attorney, announces that Mark C. Kozik, 36, previously of Spring Grove, was sentenced yesterday to eighteen years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the Class X felony offense of Armed Robbery following a negotiated plea.

Defendant admitted to robbing the Payday Loan Store in McHenry Illinois in December of 2006.

Defendant is currently serving a sentence in the Federal Penitentiary for bank robbery that occurred near the time of the instant offense.

His projected federal parole date is January 30, 2029. This case was investigated by Detective John Birk of the McHenry Police Department.

There was further cooperation with the Crystal Lake Police Department, Fox Lake Police Department, and Antioch Police Department.

his case was prosecuted for the State by Assistant State’s Attorney Sharyl Eisenstein.

Woman Getaway Driver at McHenry Payday Loan Store Robbery Gets 12 Years

HEIDI KUNZ SENTENCED TO TWELVE YEARS IN THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS

Louis A. Bianchi, McHenry County State’s Attorney, announces that Heidi L. Kunz, 33, previously of Spring Grove, was sentenced today to twelve years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the class X felony offense of armed robbery following a negotiated plea.

The defendant admitted to robbing the Payday Loan Store in McHenry, Illinois on December 15, 2006.

A criminal investigation revealed that Kunz served as the getaway driver.

She is currently serving a separate sentence in the Federal Penitentiary for a bank robbery that occurred near the time of this offense.

Charges against the co-defendant, Mark Kozic, who also is in federal custody, are currently pending.

This case was investigated by Detective John Birk of the McHenry Police Department. The Crystal Lake Police Department, the Fox Lake Police Department, and the Antioch Police Department also assisted in the investigation.

This case was prosecuted for the State by Assistant State’s Attorney Sharyl Eisenstein.

Kunz is currently “in transit” to a Federal prison. Her term runs until 11-15-20.

Mark Kozik is currently in Atlanta’s Federal Penitentiary. He is due to get out on 1-30-29.

Pig-Masked Woman Robs Fox River Grove LA Tan

Fox River Grove Police Department investigating Armed Robbery

L.A. Tan, 724 Northwest Highway

On 02/19/11 at approximately 5:50 P.M., Fox River Grove Police Department responded to L.A. Tan 724 Northwest Highway for an armed robbery.

The offender, armed with a black semi-automatic handgun, entered the business and ordered the attendant to open the cash drawer.

She then told the attendant to go in to one of the tanning rooms.

After the attendant heard the door chime, she emerged from the tanning room and discovered the cash in the register had been removed.

The offender had fled in an unknown direction. Approximately $160.00 was taken.

The offender was described as a female/white, 5’00″-5’02″ tall, very slim build, wearing a pig mask, a short black hair wig and a camouflage jacket. Her voice was raspy.

Armed Robber Turns Self In

Patrick Christy has surrendered to Crystal Lake Polic.

Yesterday, the Crystal Lake Police Department issued this press release about a 7:45 PM armed robbery near South School.

One of those identified as using guns and knives to rob an unidentified young man who was called to the area by one of the women who phone the vicitim telling him she wanted to buy marijuana.

The young woman was arrested for being involved in the robbery.

Here is what Crystal Lake Police said today:

“The Crystal Lake Police Department arrested Patrick Christy today, January 8th, 2011, after Christy turned himself in at the Crystal Lake Police Department.

“Unable to post the assigned bond, Christy was confined at the McHenry County Jail in Woodstock.*
