912 Patriots Issue Alert

November 19, 2010 By: Cal Skinner Category: 912 Patriots, Don't Tread on Me, Gladsen Flag, TEA Party

Public Warning!

Predators Claiming to be From the Tea Party

Lake & McHenry County, Illinois – Nov. 18, 2010 – Predators Discovered Claiming to be from “The Tea Party!

This Gladsen Flag was seen September 11, 2009, at the TEA Party demonstration on Randall Road in Algonquin.

At a residence where I was present in McHenry on Nov. 17, 2 Men saw a Gadsen Flag in front of the residence and stopped.

They came to the front door of this older gentleman’s home and claimed they were from the Tea Party and are driving around looking for people in financial trouble or foreclosure to help.

They seemed nice enough and proceeded to explain how they knew the process and could guarantee if we knew of anyone that were in need of assistance.

I took the men’s phone numbers and went on my way.

Today I found out the men’s phone numbers were given to a friend of the man who lived there and they had went to meet him.

The men came on foot with napsacks on their back.

They claimed they could keep this person in their home even if foreclosed on but it would cost $800 dollars cash. The 2nd man then said for $1,000 they could even repair the damage to their credit.

I cannot verify that any illegal activity took place at that time however the Police have been notified and from what I was told the men were followed to a empty home which was foreclosed on and had been empty.

These men were dirty looking and one claimed to be a ex-Cook County Sherrif and that’s how he knew the system.

This is mostly second hand but it’s what I gathered from speaking with those who possibly could have been a victim of a scam and my own interaction from them.

It is entirely possible these men were on the level however I cannot imagine any Tea Party people trying to help and then requesting money.

I only want to inform you so you can spread the word to those friends and family who may be in need to be very weary of those stopping by randomly to help!

God Bless,  Tom

About The912Patriots

You’re invited to join like minds in preserving what our founding fathers established in the Constitution.

If you’re unsettled, uneasy or just disgusted with the direction our country is headed…we’re here for you. 9/12 stands for the day after Sept. 11, 2001 when we as a country came together putting aside our political affiliations for the betterment of the United States of America.

It also represents the following…

THE 9 PRINCIPLES

  1. America is good.
  2. I believe in God and He is the center of my life.
  3. I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.
  4. The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.
  5. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.
  6. I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.
  7. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with whomever I want. Government cannot force me to be charitable.
  8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.
  9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.

THE 12 VALUES

Honest – Thrift – Sincerity – Courage – Reverence – Humility – Moderation – Hope – Personal Responsibility – Charity – Hard Work – Gratitude

If you agree with 7 out of the 9 principles, please join us in gathering our voices to be heard by Washington. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Patriots on Parade

July 09, 2010 By: Cal Skinner Category: 4th of July, 4th of July Parade, Adolph Svec, American Eagle, Don't Tread on Me, Eagle, Float, Joe Edwards, Neil Joslun, Patriots United, Statue of Liberty, United States Capitol

The Patriots United 4th of July Parade unit.

There were lots of patriotic entries in Crystal Lake’s 4th of July Parades, but the most elaborate was that of Patriots United.

An American Eagle soared in front of the float.

A soaring American Eagle was the leading edge of the float.

A non-partisan group that has sponsored public forums on health care reform, video gambling, abortion, and county board candidates and congressional candidates, among others, plus organized and participated in TEA Party rallies, this pre-TEA Party organization had a float with a stunning flying eagle last Monday.

Mary Alger gives a thumbs up. Adams Enterprises supplied the truck.

The organizer for the float was Mary Alger.

An Army Ranger and Green Beret were in front of the float.

An Army Ranger and a Green Beret sat in the back of the pick-up truck pulling the elaborate float.

The float featured the United States Capitol.

On the bed of the trailer was a representation of the United States Capitol behind an American Flag.

The back of the Patriots United float. Note the sign on the Capitol.

The first part of the United States Constitution was on one side of the back of the entry. On the other side a scroll read,

God Bless
Our Troops
God Bless
The U.S.A.

The most elaborate sign in the parade is seen here being carried by Adolph Svec.

A man in a tri-cornered hat walked with a flag-striped placard reading,

An American Icon
Not “Idle”

The reference was to the Statue of Liberty.

The "Don't Tread on Me" flag Neil Joslun is carrying doesn't look the same on both sides.

Earlier, another man carried a black and yellow “Don’t Tread on Me” flag.

Joe Edwards of Crystal Lake

Among those walking near the float was Crystal Lake’s Joe Edwards. He was handing out literature about Patriots United.

There were signs appropriate to the group.

  • In God We Trust
  • Free Market Economy
  • Strong National Defense
  • Pro-Family
  • Faith in God
  • Limited Government
  • Trust and Honor

My favorite was on the back of the Capitol:

Young Democrats Meeting Tuesday Night at Crystal Lake’s Panera’s

December 14, 2009 By: Cal Skinner Category: April Ritchie, Don't Tread on Me, Ed Rotchford, Frank Manzo IV, Kori Crooke-Rempfer, Matt Taylor, McHenry County Young Democrats, Timothy Dorn, YDs, Young Democrats

McHenry County Young Democrats will meet from 7-8:30 at Crystal Lake Panera Bread. Afterward they will adjourn across the street to Buffalo Wild Wings for a drink.

In the latest monthly electronic newsletter, YD President Ed Rotchford writes the following:

YD's Monthly Take Masthead

Hello, and thank you for being a part of the Young Democrats of McHenry County (YDMC)!  In our brief six months of existence, our member/supporter list now numbers over 110 people.  And we’re just getting started. It was in May of this year that a few of us in the area decided that we needed to have some younger Democratic representation in McHenry County, and with the help of Young Democrats of Illinois (YDI) President Kori Crooke-Rempfer, The YDMC became an official charter member of YDI and of the Young Democrats of America (YDA).

In the six months since that time, we have accomplished a lot.  We wrote and ratified our Constitution, we have had LTE’s (Letters to the Editor) published in the Northwest Herald, we have hosted candidates for Lieutenant Governor and Treasurer, and we elected our first ever Executive Board.

After being elected President of the YDMC, I stated that my number one goal was to build the foundation of the Democratic Party within McHenry County by raising the political awareness of young voters and increasing our membership.

Part of accomplishing these goals is recognizing the base of young voters in our county.  McHenry County has traditionally been a stronghold for the Republican Party, and many of our parents and older siblings are Republicans.  In the 2000 census, 30% of our population was under 18 years of age and 7% was between 18-24 years of age.  This means that a significant amount of voters are within the typical Young Democrat age of 18-35.  Take into account that McHenry County voted in 2008 for a Democratic Candidate for President for the first time on record, and you can see that the days of Republican dominance are no longer guaranteed.

However good that news may be, I also recognize the current political activeness of young voters in the county.  After years of living in a Republican-dominated area, we all recognize that there are few outlets in McHenry County that promote progressive values, and fewer areas where we can talk about progressive values openly.

Young voters have been used to this climate for so long, that even at a time where we can call McHenry County “Blue”, it is more common to see people lining the streets with “Don’t Tread on Me” flags and signs that equate our President to Adolf Hitler than it is to see a few people protesting on the corner in favor of Health Care Reform.

That’s just how it is still – I get it.

So do I expect young voters to immediately start storming the streets to consistently protest for green energy jobs, more access to education, and social progressive values such as a woman’s right to choose and equal rights regardless of sexual orientation?

No, I don’t.

But I sure as heck do not think that these are values that we should be keeping to ourselves.  We should not be afraid to state our opinions in front of our older friends and family who may scoff at our thoughts as proof that we have been corrupted by crazy liberals and socialist subliminal messages.

It’s time to fight back.  It’s time to be heard.  Most of all, it’s time to be respected.

So in my time as President of the YDMC, I will do what I can to encourage young voters who identify themselves as Democrats to speak their mind without being bashful.  I will do my best to provide young voters with resources at our meetings and via our website (www.TheYDMC.com) and Facebook group so you can see that others around the county, around the state, and around the country hold the same opinions you do – and you can use these resources to get involved with us, encourage others in McHenry County to get involved, and educate yourselves on topics that back up your values – allowing you to defend yourself against those that think your opinions are misguided.

We will have meetings throughout the year, and these meeting times/places will be posted on our website.  I highly encourage you to join us at all of our meetings – but if you don’t, I ask that you keep in touch with us by checking in often.  We live in a world of social networking, I know, so please understand that your online presence means just as much to me as your physical presence.

I look forward to serving the YDMC as President, and if you have any questions, please email me at YDMCPresident@gmail.com

Rotchford adds,

We are looking for writers!

The Young Democrats of McHenry County is looking for progressive writers to join our forces and submit their content to be a part of our Monthly Newsletter. We are also looking for bloggers who would be willing to contribute some opinion pieces to our website and Facebook pages! If you are interested, please email us at youngdemocratsofmchenrycounty@gmail.com

Officers of the organization are

  • Edward Rotchford – President
  • Timothy Dorn – Vice President
  • April Ritchie – Secretary
  • Jemma Cabral – Treasurer
  • Matt Taylor – Events and Communications Director
  • Frank Manzo IV -College Campus Coordinator

Crystal Lake 4th of July TEA Party – 2

July 07, 2009 By: Cal Skinner Category: 4th of July, Crystal Lake, Don't Tread on Me, Route 14, TEA Party

Rob Lee wasn’t the only speaker at Crystal Lake’s Taxed Enough Already Party on Independence Day.

This photo of Joe Alger with the megaphone clearly shows he is standing on a box of tea.

And, I can’t pass up the observation that the arrow on Route 14 is pointing right.

It was raining as is evident above. Being July 4th, I would assume it was still pretty warm outside.

ACORN’s role in taking the 2010 U.S. Census is ridiculed in one of the signs above.

ACORN
PUTS THE
“CON”
IN CENSUS

Another sign says,

WAKE UP
AMERICA
TAKE BACK YOUR
COUNTRY

Other placards visible above are

AUDIT
THE
FED

and

FREE
MY
GRANDKIDS

Here’s another one about cap and trade:

It says,

THEY’LL
CAP & TRADE
OUR FREEDOM
AWAY

I see a man holding a “Don’t Tread on Me” flag, but the best flag picture I received is of the Minuteman waving it:
One man’s sign concentrated on the amount of money that I think President Barack Obama’s administration has borrowed:

DEBT
$1.1 TRILLION

That’s the message.

There are lots of homemade posters in the photo below.

DON’T TAX
ME BRO

TAXES ARE REVOLTING
WHY AREN’T YOU

HELP ME
MR OBAMA
THEY WANT ME
TO WORK
AND STUFF

BORN FREE
TAXED
TO DEATH

SERVANT
NOT
KING

ONE
BIG
A**
MISTAKE
AMERICA!

And, there’s one small print that mentions the DNC. Maybe you can make it out if you click on the photo to enlarge it.

Then, there’s the sign with that great quote from President Ronald Reagan.

Government is not
a solution to our problem,
government is the problem.

Still more homemade signs:

If you’re not
outraged,
you’re not
informed.

I think the one behind says,

Government,
Keep Your
Hands Off
MY
Health Care

If you missed the photos of Crystal Lake’s TEA Party published Monday, you can find them here and here.

More photos later, including some from Algonquin’s TEA Party.

Message of the Day – A Flag

October 25, 2008 By: Cal Skinner Category: Bull Valley, Don't Tread on Me, Flag, Message of the Day, Tatters

I found this flag in Bull Valley while collecting signatures on a petition to citizens to vote on whether they wanted to annex two farms.

I am sure it reflects the opinion of its owner.

Don’t Tread on Me

You can see the snake best in the top photo; the words in the bottom one. The wind was blowing so hard I could not capture the content of the flag in one frame.
