Message of the Day – A Car Sticker

July 05, 2009 By: Cal Skinner Category: AFA, Angry Bison, Angry Burralo, Bison, Buffalo, Car Sticker, Easter, He Lives, Message of the Day, Taking Pictures

While waiting for a herd of 150-200 buffalo to cross the road to Old Faithful in Yellowstone National Park, I spotted this car sticker.

EASTER
HE LIVES

is the message.

Underneath is this address: www.afa.net.

You can see that people got out of their cars, myself included.

But I didn’t get on the buffalo side of the car as this guy did.

I read that when a buffalo raises its tail that doesn’t only mean it might be getting ready to take a dump. It also can be a sign of aggressiveness. This photo was taken with a long lens.

Only one woman got gored while we at Yellowstone.

Message of the Day – A Space Ship

March 26, 2008 By: Cal Skinner Category: Candy, Easter, Eggs, Jet, Message of the Day, Space Ship

My son likes to build space ships.

He has devoured the Lego versions.

Then, he takes them apart and uses his imagination.

Not quite a space ship, but you may remember the Santa Jet.

Easter he put together eggs to create this Candy Space Ship.

Message of the Day – Decapitation

March 25, 2008 By: Cal Skinner Category: Butter, Decapitatiion, Easter, Lamb, Message of the Day

Despite having escaped to Florida to visit the Wonder Lake snowbirds, her parents, my sister-in-law apparently prevailed upon my bother-in-law to take a picture of me decapitating the lamb-shaped butter.

Apparently, some 17 years ago, I playfully (or, at least I hope it was “playfully”) cut off the lamb’s head to butter my bread.

So, they insisted I do it again.

Here’s the evidence of my compliance with their request.

Ah, the ignominy.

A Lesson in Canadian Health Care

March 24, 2008 By: Cal Skinner Category: Barack Obama, Canada, Canadian Health Care, Easter, Health Care, Hillary Clinton, South of the Border

For all those folks who think that Hillary Clinton’s and Barack Obama’s visions of health care are for you, consider this story.

The granddaughter of an acquaintance and her her family live in Canada.

The granddaughter and her mothers came to Illinois to visit this Easter.

But, it wasn’t to celebrate the Holy Day with the family.

It was because the granddaughter’s toe got hurt.

It wasn’t healing.

Her mother took her to her Canadian pediatrician.

The pediatrician said she had to see a specialist. The wait was so long and the mother cared so much about her daughter that she decided to come south for medical care.

In order to prevent the long delays the Canadian system entails, the little girl came back to Illinois to see a specialist.

Maybe if the Democrats impose a similar system next year, we can go south of the border for better care.

Oops, it looks like another photo got posted by mistake. Later this week, you will see how I used to symbolism of Keely Cat’s doing his duty. Since it might be appropriate for this story, I left it in.
