Tonya Franklin Finds Google Blurring Tea Party Flag at Her Home

December 03, 2012 By: Cal Skinner Category: American flag, Bumper Sticker, Censorship, Censure, Flag, Google, TEA Party, Tonya Franklin

Tonya Franklin, the woman who was willing to run against Jack Franks for State Representative as a Republican but was denied that opportunity by the McHenry County Republican Central Committee, sent an interesting photo of her home.

It was taken by one of the Google mapping folks.

Look at it closely and you will see an American Flag.

And, there is another flag next to it that has been deliberately blurred.

It’s a Tea Party Flag.

Note the hiding of Tonya Franklin’s Tea Party Flag by Google.

Draw your own conclusion.

A friend in Chicago found some of his anti-Obama bumper stickers blurred.

Some bumper stickers are blurred, other aren’t.

As if a lot of people look at these pictures.

Google Gets Its Lobbying Mailing List

As with many others, I joined Google’s email list when internet firms were fighting the effort which Hollywood lobbyists called “stopping piracy.”

Ironically, the Feds used current copyright laws to crack down on one of the film makers’ biggest targets within 24 hours of the protest.

Today, I received the following email from Google indicating that its lobbying arm is prepared to repeat the effort when the idea pops up again:

This email from Google arrived on January 25, 2012.

Tribune Tying Ads into Article Content?

July 10, 2009 By: Cal Skinner Category: Ad Linkage, Boat Will Come In, Google, Illinois Lottery, Product Placement, Rolland Burris

Observant folks will have noticed that Google’s ads tend to relate to the content of what one is reading.

Today the Chicago Tribune ran an article announced Rod Blagojevich-appointed U.S. Senator Rolland Burris would announce that he was not going to run for election in 2010.

Beneath the article was an ad for the Illinois Lottery.

Certainly it was Burris’ dream to become the first black governor of Illinois.

He didn’t “win the lottery” when he ran for that office.

When he got the chance, he settled for being the third black U.S. senator from Illinois.

Linking the ad showing a boat coming in with the article was probably by chance, but it was oddly appropriate.
