Message of the Day – A Sweat Shirt

I’m not sure the members of the West Side Christian Church in Springfield will be singing for joy today or not.

They arr from Springfield, so maybe they favor a 67% income tax increase, plus the imposition of sales taxes on services like cable television.

The tee shirt shows the heavens and seems to be a Christmas sweat shirt, so the joy the wearing is singing about is more probably the birth of Jesus than the hiking of taxes. The “O” in “JOY” is shaped like a round Christmas ornament.

I took this when we were at the Old Capitol Art Fair the middle of the month. You see the concession area.

Teen Drummer

Last Sunday at the First United Methodist Church of Crystal Lake, participants were encouraged to text message what they were thankful for.

These messages were then projected onto two screens in front of the church.

I thought I got a photo of one thanking Zak for playing the drums in the 11 o’clock CrossRoads service, but it was too fuzzy to use.

It turns out that Zak’s last name is Eichmann.

He was part of a service in which Pastor Darneather Murph-Heath talked about Joy.

In a dramatic conclusion she walked down the center aisle wrapping her arms around her body and explained that this was like holding your joy inside.

Then, she threw her arms out wide urging parishioners to let their joy go, to let others know of their joy.

As luck would have it, that’s when I ran out of space on my camera’s memory card.

Message of the Day – Joy

November 25, 2008 By: Cal Skinner Category: Disney World, Joy, Leap, Oh No, Pop Century, Spurt

Can you see the looks of joy as these children at Disney World’s Pop Century Resort try to avoid the spurts of water?

If you were there, are you too staid to take the risk they are?

My excuses were that I

  1. didn’t have on my bathing suit and
  2. was taking pictures

Message of the Day – Joy

This is where we were New Year’s Eve.

D’Andrea Crystal Lake Banquet Facility and Conference Center at the intersection of Routes 14 and 31.

For the wedding of Mackenzie Walter and Carlos Garcia.

After midnight, this little girl was having the time of her life playing with a balloon.

My 10-year old was break dancing on the floor.
