Joe Walsh Repeats: “The President is Lying,” Says GOP “Afraid To Call Him On It”

February 28, 2013 By: Cal Skinner Category: Barack Obama, Joe Walsh, Liar, Lie, Lies

A column from former Congressman Joe Walsh:

Obama is Lying

During the debt ceiling fight in 2011, when President Obama came up with the stupid sequester idea — which Congress went along with and I voted against — Obama went on TV and said that if the debt ceiling was not raised, he wouldn’t be able to make Social Security and Medicare payments.

From the Joe Walsh YouTube asking President Barack Obama to quit lying about cuts if the debt ceiling were not raised.

From the Joe Walsh YouTube asking President Barack Obama to quit lying about cuts if the debt ceiling were not raised.

I went on TV and said “The president is lying,” because he knew darn well that even if the debt ceiling wasn’t raised, there was plenty of money to take care of our Social Security and Medicare obligations.

He’s doing the same thing now, and we Republicans are afraid to call him on it.

He’s traveling the country trying to scare the American people by saying that if the sequester goes through, flights will be endangered, food safety will be impaired, parents won’t be able to send their kids to day care, and a terrorist attack is more likely to happen.

The latest was yesterday when he sent his Education Secretary out to say that because of the sequester,

“Teachers all over the country were already getting pink slips.”

When asked to give an example, he could only give one, in West Virginia, and those dismissals had nothing to do with the sequester.

Arne Duncan was lying.

We Republicans are too nice.

The Democrats bring real knives to a knife fight.

We bring Power Point presentations.

This has to change.

The president isn’t being flexible.

He’s not being silly.

He and his cabinet are LYING to the American people.

We need to say it.

He is saying untruths to scare the American people over to his side.

He never, ever wants to cut government spending. That’s not who he is.

Call it what it is: The president of the United States is lying.

“If You Didn’t Vote, Quit Complaining”

July 23, 2011 By: Cal Skinner Category: Joe Walsh, Liar, Social Security

That’s the headline of a rant by Joe Rothstein, Editor of something called EINNEWS.com.

He uses high-profile Congressman Joe Walsh’s small victory margin in low-turnout elections to make the point that if people don’t like what D.C. politicians are saying, they should blame those who didn’t vote.

“One of the most vocal tea party-centric freshmen is Joe Walsh, who represents the eighth district of Illinois,” Rothstein writes.

Joe Walsh cut what he calls "a low budget" video in which he said President Barack Obama was a liar when he said Social Sercurity payments could not be paid without an increase in the debt ceiling. That description created a minor firestorm among liberal Washington commentators.

“Walsh has been in the news lately for calling President Obama a liar when he says the government won’t be able to pay its bills after August 3 without a debt ceiling increase. In that, Walsh is speaking for most House GOP freshmen who are also debt-ceiling deniers.”

“Debt-ceiling denier.”

Pretty easy to figure out that Rothstein is on the side of the Big Spenders.

He argues when Walsh or pretty much any Washington politician argues he is “‘doing what the majority of those he represents’ wants him to do,” it is a pretty thin mandate, given the low turnout of voters.

Fair point, I guess.

But winners get to set political agendas.

And Walsh won.

That he is not being your timid first-term back bencher may be irritating the hell out of the Beltway crowd.

That doesn’t bother me.

When Liberals Call Burris A “Liar”

February 17, 2009 By: Cal Skinner Category: Liar, Mark Brown, Neil Steinberg, Roland Burris, United States Senate

Two Chicago Sun-Times reporters called newly appointed United States Roland Burris a “liar” yesterday.

The angriest was Mark Brown.

“The problem is that if he couldn’t tell the whole truth previously, why should anyone believe he’s telling the truth now.

“I don’t,” Brown wrote.

The second was Neil Steinberg.

“Roland Burris lied on his job application. He lied, under oath, about Rod Blagojevich hitting him up for money before he was tapped to fill Barack Obama’s seat,” Steinberg said in his column.

“Any middle manager caught doing the same would be out on his ear.”
