The Cary Park District Considers Buying Another Golf Course

October 01, 2012 By: Cal Skinner Category: Cary Park District, Chalet Hills Golf Club, Foxford Hills Golf Club, Laurie Jenner, McHenry County Tea Party

Foxford Hills Golf Club is owned by the Cary Park District.

This message came from a Cary Park District taxpayer. I think it is worth sharing.

You may wish to look into the Cary Area Park District considering the purchase of Chalet Hills Golf Course.

“At the meeting last week there were no reporters present.

“Two distinct factions were present, those who live in Chalet Hills and feel the park district purchasing the course is a great idea, and others who feel the purchase should be out of the question.

“It appeared clear that the board members have already made up their minds, heck, they appeared to all be golfers!

“Anyway, it appears this matter is about to heat up.”

The Park District already owns Foxford Hills Golf Club.

McHenry County Tea Party coordinator Laurie Jenner adds,

Chalet Hills Golf Course sign.

“Chalet Hills Golf Course and Club have been in foreclosure for years. If the price was right, would not a private entity invest in the purchase of it?”It’s obviously not making money, or it would have been sold.

“So, the Cary Park District thinks it’s a good idea to purchase it.

Foxford Hills Golf Course sign.

“They already own the poorly performing Foxford Hills.

“The same management company currently operates both golf courses.

“A friend that lives on Chalet Hills golf course said the property taxes on the golf course are what killed it for the foreclosed owners.

“So, should those tax dollars really come off the rolls?

“No way!

“If Foxford Hills was profitable, money should come back as a savings to taxpayers.

“Instead Cary Park District asked for the maximum increase this past year.

“And, of course, there are no property tax dollars coming in from the golf course.

“A town the size of Cary has no business owning one course, but now they think they should own two?

“The distance between Foxford Hills and Chalet Hills can’t be much more than a mile.

Hoffman Park sign.

“Cary Park District owns way too much land as it is.

“The Hoffman property should have never been purchased.

“That purchase was for the sole purpose of keeping gravel mining out of ‘our back yard’.

“But, enough voters said yes to that referendum years ago.

“Again, another huge parcel off the tax rolls.”

The next meeting is Thursday, October 25th, at 7 PM.

Wednesday Tea Party Meeting on Federal Reserve System

June 26, 2011 By: Cal Skinner Category: Federal Reserve, Federal Reserve Board, McHenry County Tea Party

A press release from the McHenry County Tea Party:

Inflation and the Federal Reserve Presentation June 29

The McHenry County Tea Party is hosting an informational session on inflation and our economy, the effects of U.S. monetary policy, and the Federal Reserve System.

Disasters the Fed is steering us toward, and what can be done about it, will also be discussed.

The McHenry County Tea Party was one of the sponsors of last year's April 15th demonstration on Route 14 in Crystal Lake.

The presentation includes some short, informative (and entertaining) video clips, and attendees will receive a list of resources that can be used for further research.

The event will be held at the Algonquin Township Building, Lower level meeting room, 3702 U.S. Highway 14, between Cary and Crystal Lake. The event is free, and the public is invited.

McHenry County Tea Party is an independent organization, not affiliated with any political party or other group. It focuses activities on three basic freedom principles, which are free markets, constitutionally limited government, and sound money.

Ballot Irregularity Expert Speaking Tonight in Cary

March 23, 2011 By: Cal Skinner Category: Bev Harris, McHenry County Tea Party, Vote Fraud

The McHenry County Tea Party helped sponsor this Crystal Lake demonstration last April 15th.

A press release from the McHenry County Tea Party, belatedly posted, but in advance of the meeting it talks about at the Algonquin Township Hall tonight:

Several years ago, Bev Harris, a grandmother from Seattle, saw what seemed to be irregularities in the integrity of ballot counting.

She had the ambition to investigate, and what she discovered is astonishing, in what many of us consider to be the most free country on earth, due in large part to fair elections.

Ms. Harris was the main subject of the 2007 HBO documentary “Hacking Democracy”.  Read about her investigations at http://www.blackboxvoting.org/

We’ve arranged for Ms. Harris to come to Crystal Lake to update anyone interested on how easy it is to steal elections.

Ms. Harris will speak at the Algonquin Township building, Board Room, lower level. The building is on Rt 14 between Cary and Crystal Lake.  See map at http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=202420983110380.

The public is welcome, and admission is free (donations to help cover Ms. Harris’s travel expenses are welcome). To hear and meet one of the country’s foremost authorities on election and vote fraud for this price shouldn’t be missed.

A short video will be shown at 6:45pm, and Ms. Harris’s talk will start at 7:00pm.

This a nonpartisan event. Fair and accurate vote counting has been found to have been compromised by both major parties, as well as in nonpartisan races.

If you care about the integrity of voting and free elections, please consider taking advantage of this incredible opportunity.

State Senator Dan Duffy to Give Repeat Performance of Springfield 101 at Algonquin Township Hall Saturday

January 20, 2011 By: Cal Skinner Category: Algonquin Township, Algonquin Township Hall, Dan Duffy, Lauri Jenner, Laurie Jenner, McHenry County Tea Party

Dan Duffy at a Nunda township Springfield 101 session.

Dan Duffy, the man who spoke so elegantly against the Democrats bill to hike income taxes 67%, is coming to the Route 14 Algonquin Township Hall on Saturday afternoon, January 22nd, for a McHenry County Tea Party presentation of “Springfield 101.”

I heard most of it at a Prairie Grove presentation last fall.

It was full of “inside dopester” revelations of what happens out in front of the cameras, as well as the backroom machinations leading to what the public is allowed to observe.

The announcement follows:

McHenry County Tea Party hosts Springfield 101

Dan Duffy, Illinois State  Senator
will present how our government works in Springfield.

McHenry County Tea Party will follow the presentation with a look at 2011.

Saturday, January 22, 2011

Algonquin Township  (lower level meeting room)

Walsh Holds Post-Bean Concession Press Conference – Part 1

November 17, 2010 By: Cal Skinner Category: 8th Congressional District, Joe Walsh, McHenry County Tea Party, Melissa Bean, Press Conference

McHenry County Tea Party co-sponsored this candidates' night that Melissa Bean did not attend. Congressman Don Manzullo applauds something Joe Walsh said.

So, what’s a Congressman-elect’s first press conference like?

For Joe Walsh’s, I was allowed to listen in and even ask questions, if I wished. My fingers tried to keep up with Walsh. What follows is what I got down.

“I am pleased that all of the votes in the 8th district were counted,” Walsh started out. I think I heard that from Melissa Bean before the absentee ballots were tallied.

He told of Bean’s having called last night and “very graciously congratulat(ing) me for winning the race.

“I am grateful for each and every person who volunteered, the TEA Party people, the Regular Republicans, the folks have sent me off to Washington.

‘They want a more responsible government (for us to) stop borrowing against our kids’ future

“I am anxious to personally thank everyone one who helped achieve this (victory).”

He spoke of there being a “terribly resolute Republican Freshman Class. We are incredibly resolute in what we want to do.”

A reporter asked about what committee assignments he was seeking.

Walsh said he had a “keen inter in small business.” Walsh served on the Small Business Committee.

He also said he wanted to be “part of a process that can really lead a discussion on entitlement reform.

“Put everyone at the table in doing what needs to be done to address these issues. There are a lot of proposals out there.

“Everyone is going to have to give on Social Security and Medicare reform.

A Bloomberg News reporter asked about the upcoming Cancun, Mexico, climate negotiations.

Walsh characterized the subject as “An area we need to lead on. There are questions on the certainty, the uncertainty of climate change. The science needs to continue to be flushed out.”

Walsh said, “Our economic interests have to be first and foremost.

“Cap and Trade was a big issue in my district.”

He was worried about taxing “our business and communities.

“We need to look for energy independence.

“The science is not definitive out there.

“Right now people are hurting. The unemployment rate (in my district) is almost 11%.

“People have lost more homes this year than last year.

“That’s got to be the focus of this session. Get our economy growing again.”

More tomorrow.

McHenry County Tea Party November 2010 Candidate Endorsements

We have released our list of candidates that we believe will fulfill our mission, to promote and defend the Constitution, our freedom and liberty, limited government, sound money, and free markets.

We understand there will be concern about 3rd party candidates taking away votes from the Republican or Democratic candidates. In the offices we chose 3rd party candidates, we believe in voting for principal over party. We do not believe in the lesser of 2 evils.

Once in office, it is our responsibility to hold these candidates to their principles.

Nygren Says “Traffic” Is Biggest Problem Facing Sheriff’s Department, “Heroin” Says Mahon

October 12, 2010 By: Cal Skinner Category: Gus Philpott, Heroin, Illinois Policy Institute, Keith Nygren, McHenry County, McHenry County Sheriff, McHenry County Sheriff's Department, McHenry County Tea Party, Parade, Traffic

From left to right, Gus Philpott, Mike Mahon and Keith Nygren.

The final question from the moderator for the three candidates for McHenry County Sheriff inquired about the biggest problem facing the department.

“Traffic” was the reply of 13-year incumbent Keith Nygren.

I admit to being stunned by his reply. I’d have thought he would have said something relating to a more significant aspect of law enforcement.

Nygren finished his explanation by telling how hard it was to get out of McHenry County College. Funny, I’ve never had a problem when I used the entrance with the traffic signal. Certainly not after a meeting that went until after 9 PM.

Democrat Mike Mahon was sitting next to Nygren and got second shot at the question.

“Heroin” was his reply.

He explained that the drug had been brought to his attention when he was canvassing neighborhoods.

I can attest to being told by acquaintance that his child had been incarcerated in the McHenry County Jail on a drug charge, placed in a cell with a heroin addict and, when released, turned from, I think it was cocaine, to heroin.

We’re talking Crystal Lake here.

Green Party candidate Gus Philpott went third and waxed enthusiastically about traffic enforcement, but said his highest priority would be getting deputies out of their cars, in contact with people and in the schools with children.

Mahon scored one other point, although he did not stress it.  When asked about saving money in the department, Nygren said he wasn’t going to lay off anyone, especially those on the street, that if more money were needed he would find additional revenue.

Is one of the highly paid employees on Mike Mahon's list of positions which would be eliminiated driving Keith Nygren's car in this year's Algonquin Founders Days Parade? Anyone know the identity of the driver?

Mahon did score one good point while answering the question of how the candidates would save money.  Nygren went first, vowing not to fire anyone, especially those on the street.  He said if he needed more money, he would find a way to raise more revenue.

Mahon has issued a press release about how he would save $1 million a year [37 comments on that article] by eliminating positions in the department.  He cited for the audience a $90,000 a year assistant supervisor of the vehicle maintenance part of the Sheriff’s Department, whom he said Nygren paid overtime (although hedging his answer suggesting it might be compensatory time off) to drive his car in parades.

Philpott brought up how one employee is apparently paid for commuting to and from work. You can read about it here.  He says he learned through a Freedom of Information request that Patrick Firman, Deputy Chief of Corrections, receives a $350 per month “Vehicle Compensation Package.”

The forum was sponsored by the Illinois Policy Institute and the McHenry County TEA Party.
