Zinke Off Hatch Act Hook

August 29, 2012 By: Cal Skinner Category: Andy Zinke, Hatch Act, Keith Nygren, McHnery County Sheriff, McHnery Township Republican Central Committee

in response to a Freedom of Information Act request I have discovered that McHenry County Undersheriff Andy Zinke is not precluded by the Federal Hatch Act from running in the Republican primary for Sheriff in 2014.

The short answer was contained in an email which arrived on March 19th. You can see it below:

The U.S. Justice Department Office of Special Counsel’s Mary Larson emailed Undersheriff Andy Zinke on March 19, 2012, that she had determined that he was not covered by the Federal Hatch Act.

The March 19th letter follows:

You may remember that the organization chart was changed for the Sheriff’s Department for the coming budget year.

McHenry Township Committeeman Kathy Kuchta Announces Candidacy for County GOP Vice Chairmanship

March 05, 2008 By: Cal Skinner Category: Kathy Kuchta, McHenry County Republican Central Committee, McHnery Township Republican Central Committee, Rich Mack

The following letter asking for support at the Wednesday night McHenry County Republican Central Committee convention has reached my email box. I am pleased to share it with you:

Kathleen Kuchta
5918 Tomlinson Drive
McHenry, IL 60050

Dear McHenry County Republican Committeemen,

This letter comes to ask for your support in my candidacy for Vice-Chair of the McHenry County Republican Central Committee and to provide information regarding my backround and experience.

In 2000 I was first elected as a McHenry Township Committeeman and have served as Treasurer from 2000-2004 and Vice-Chair from 2004-present. Additionally, I was the Chair of the Fundraising Committee from 2000 – 2007 and with the great help of our committee we were able to raise several thousand dollars. In the last year I have also served on the Bylaws Committee. Since 2000 I’ve supported several local and state Republican candidates and have actively participated in many campaigns.

In 2005 I was elected to the McHenry Township Board as a Trustee and plan to run again in 2009. I also am a member of the Senior Advisory Council for the Township and have participated in planning activities for our seniors.

I have a BS degree in Nursing and practiced critical care nursing for six years. For the next 20 years I was employed in the pharmaceutical and biotech sector and have extensive sales, marketing, and training experience.

Since 2003 I’ve been an active member of the American Nephrology Nurse’s Association (ANNA) and am currently serving as the North Central Health Policy Advisor. Through ANNA I’ve been very involved in legislative activities advocating for patients with kidney disease.

If elected as your Vice-Chair I pledge to enthusiastically support the goals of our Republican committee, to be accessible to all committeemen, and to responsibly perform the duties of Vice-Chair.

Thanks in advance for your support and please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have.

Respectfully,
Kathy Kuchta

The current vice chairman, Rich Mack, is from McHenry Township. I presume if he were running for re-election that Kuchta would not be a candidate.
