Walsh Off to Harper College in Palatine Monday Night

August 08, 2011 By: Cal Skinner Category: Joe Walsh, Palatine, Palatine Tea Party, Town Hall Meeting

Before attending the Wauconda Town Hall Meeting held by Congressman Joe Walsh, I had thought these were local affairs.

After Joe Walsh's Town Hall Meetings and "Joe(s) with Joe," people can get up close and personal with the United States Representative.

Not so.

Congressman Joe Walsh listens to a comment in Barrington on Sunday.

One of the most hostile questions (greeting by boos) at Wauconda was from a man who said he was from Wheaton. That’s not in Walsh’s district. That’s in Peter Roskam’s district.

Joe Walsh replies to a question in Barrington.

Although I shall not be in attendance, since some folks are obviously willing to travel to hear and/or question Walsh, here’s where he will be tonight at his 5th of 10 Town Hall Meeting. Maybe the Palatine Tea Party will let me share what they write about the event.

Monday, August 8th
7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Privately-Financed Dream Act Scholarships Draw Palatine Tea Party Ire

May 07, 2011 By: Cal Skinner Category: Dan Duffy, Dream Act, Immigrants, Immigration, Palatine Tea Party, Pam Althoff, Senate Bill 2185

The Palatine Tea Party has taken offense at the votes for the Illinois Dream Act by eleven Republican State Senators.

The eleven are Althoff, Bomke, Brady, Dillard, Duffy, Tom Johnson, Murphy, Radogno, Sandack, Schmidt, Syverson.

Pam Althoff and Dan Duffy represent McHenry County. Althoff has reacted and that reaction appears below the Palatine Tea Party’s press release below:

Shameful Illinois Republican State Senators

(Palatine, Illinois) – It is a sad day in Illinois when 11 Senate Republicans seek the cover of the leftist media over their ill-advised vote.

The Illinois Tea Party outrage at the passage of the Illinois Dream Act through the Illinois Senate has now made the Huffington Post.

These 11 Senators spend tax dollars like drunken sailors on shore leave, and once caught try to spin their way out of a problem they created. The Tea Party and its allies in the Illinois know that Illinois is in a financial crisis of epic proportion.

Once again the Illinois dream act is another spending bill that could adversely affect Illinois citizens. It has and will be the job of Tea Parties throughout the state to hold our elected officials accountable. The actions of these 11 Senators will not soon be forgotten. Many of these 11 call themselves conservatives, yet there is nothing conservative about the Illinois Dream Act.

This is a failure to the citizens of Illinois and these shameful Senators need to be held accountable for their actions. Please keep calling these numbers and keep expressing your contempt at this ill-advised vote.

Republicans that voted YES are: Althoff, Bomke, Brady, Dillard, Duffy, Tom Johnson, Murphy, Radogno, Sandack, Schmidt, Syverson.

Here’s is State Senator Pam Althoff’s response:

Recently, the Illinois Senate approved legislation (Senate Bill 2185) aimed at allowing student immigrants who have a valid taxpayer ID to invest in their college education – this legislation has been the subject of much misinformation on the Internet and in the media.

The bill requires the Illinois Student Assistance Commission to create an Illinois DREAM Fund that will provide scholarships funded entirely from private contributions – no Illinois tax dollars will be directed toward these scholarships. In addition, to be eligible for the program, a student must be a resident of the State of Illinois.

Contrary to some of the misinformation being spread by opponents of the measure, it is not an immigration bill – in no way, shape or form does it grant undocumented immigrants citizenship. Also, contrary to what’s been previously reported, the legislation does not permit driving certificates for undocumented immigrants.

As the Daily Herald noted in its May 6th edition:

“Note, there is a difference between the state version of the DREAM Act and the federal version, which failed during Congress’ lame-duck session late last fall. The state version, unlike the federal version, does not provide a direct path to citizenship.”

Those interested in seeing the full language of the measure can visit the Illinois Legislature’s Web site – www.ilga.gov.

Walsh Holds Post-Bean Concession Press Conference – Part 4

November 20, 2010 By: Cal Skinner Category: 8th Congressional District, Joe Walsh, Palatine Tea Party, Press Conference, Republican Assembly of Lake County, TEA Party

More than two-thirds of Joe Walsh's 650 lead was whittled away before all the ballots were counted.

In today’s article, newly-elected Congressman Joe Walsh talks about his election coalition and the role that Tea Party groups had in it.

Walsh was specifically asked about the participation of the Palatine Tea Party and the Republican Assembly of Lake County.

“It was a wonderful coming together. There are a number of Tea Party groups in this district.

“They came on board, worked independently.

Talking of the coalition that came together, Walsh said, ““The Tea Party support I got was a huge part of that.

“This Tea Party movement has nothing to do with political parties,” he added.

“They are concerned and scared to death about the future of this country.

“That movement is going to keep growing.

“That is a tremendous opportunity for the Republican Party.”

More tomorrow.

Where’s Waldo, Oops, Melissa?

October 11, 2010 By: Cal Skinner Category: 8th Congressional District, Bill Scheurer, Joe Walsh, Melissa Bean, Palatine, Palatine Tea Party, TEA Party, Waldo

Melissa Bean at her last debate, which was held prior to Labor Day, 2006.

Waldo, who has never attended a candidate's debate. Maybe he's in Bean's bunker.

As you can see from the press release below from Tea Party Palatine, she skipped another debate, staying, as the press release says, “in her Bean Bunker.”

Republican Joe Walsh and Green Party candidate Bill Scheurer attended the Round Lake candidates’ forum.

Where is Waldo?

(Palatine, Illinois) - Illinois Representative Melissa Bean (D) Illinois 8th district will not talk with concerned citizens in the Illinois 8th district.

She can not defend her votes or answer direct questions. She is hiding deep in her Bean Bunker!

On October 9th, 2010, Illinois Representative Melissa Bean (D) Illinois 8th district was a “No” show for a debate at the Civic Center located in Round Lake Beach.

Tonight at McHenry County College, will Melissa Bean visit the 2006 site of her last debate?

Or will she remain in “Bean’s bunker.”

There were several questions asked to Melissa Bean’s empty table. The debate was moderated by the Mayor of Round Lake Beach.

Joe Walsh (R), Melissa Bean (D), and Green Party Candidate Bill Scheurer were all invited to debate topics on health care, jobs and the economy.

If you are outraged with Bean hiding and not answering direct questions, contact local media outlets and her local office (847) 517-2927 or DC (202) 225-3711 and vote her out in November!
