May 19, 2013 By: Cal Skinner Category: Irene Napier, McHenry County Right-to-Life, Pig Roast, Pro-Life, Pro-Life Victory PAC

Saturday, June 30th, is the day when McHenry County Pro-Lifers hold their annual fund raiser.

It’s a pig roast and, at least in election years, lots of politicians turn out.

Right before the 4th of July, the annual McHenry County Right-to-Life Pig Roast will be held.

Johnsburg’s 1st Way Life Center Raising Money for Ultrasound Machine, Almost All Fathers Who See Baby Urge Mother Not to Abort

Saturday night in Spring Grove, a banquet was held to raise money to buy an ultrasound machine for 1st Way Pregnancy Support Services.

Monday, the Chicago Tribune noticed that Pro-Lifers are deploying ultrasound machines in the fight against abortion.

Monday, the Chicago Tribune noticed that Pro-Lifers are deploying ultrasound machines in the fight against abortion.

In the fight against abortion, ultrasound images of unborn babies have been found to be the most persuasive tool.

A speaker pointed out that 80-85% of mothers decide to carry their babies to term after seeing its ultrasound image.

Even more astounding is the claim that 99% of men will encourage their mates to have their baby after seeing such an image.

And the machine’s importance was emphasized on the front page of the Chicago Tribune today.

In the Elgin area, an ultrasound machine has been installed in a bus by now-retired Dr. Ronald Winters.

The complete message on the sign is "Pregnant? Find out for sure."

The complete message on the sign is “Pregnant? Find out for sure.”

A component of Elgin’s Life Center, the bus is parked, with permission, near Larkin High School at the Evangelical Covenant Church and J.B.’s Pub 7 Pietro’s Pasta.

Now the city has enacted a zoning ordinance which prohibits the weekly efforts.

The Pro-life organization has sued in Federal Court, claiming violation of of First Amendment free speech and religious rights.

Councilwoman Anna Moeller seems to be most disturbed with the anti-abortion efforts.

But back to Spring Grove.

The “full cost” of the Samsung machine is $75,000 that First Way wants to put in its office in Johnsburg near and south of Angelo’s Grocery.

This is an openly Christian outreach organization.

As originator and Executive Director Connie Freund said, “I couldn’t have done this without God, without Jesus in my life.”

There are 67 people who volunteer their time in the organization that was founded in 1973, the year Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton (the “health of the mother,” very loosely defined, case) was handed down by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Jill Stanek poses by the Samsung ultrasound machine.

Speaker for the evening was Jill Stanek.

Stanek is the nurse who blew the whistle on Christ Hospital’s practice of allowing unsuccessfully aborted babies to die without offering medical care.  The instance that set her on her over decade-long mission was one in which a baby was left to die in a janitor’s closet.  She held the tiny infant for the forty-five minutes it took to die.

Part of her presentation was an interview with Bill O’Reilly that twice left O’Reilly speechless.  (It was one of five interviews used that year in the end-of-year wrap-up of the show.)

At the end of the interview, O’Reilly tells the names of the people who voted against the Federal statute that required hospitals to provide medical care.

Included in the short, under ten in number list was Jesse Jackson, Jr.

“I haven’t watched that video since Jesse Jackson was indicted,” Stanek observed.

“All I can say is ‘What goes around comes around.’”

Stanek described abortion as “the most despicable moral atrocity of our generation.”

She lamented the one billion abortions, “one-seventh of the world’s population,” adding, “No one who waits for God will ever be put to shame.”

The goal of First Way Life Center is "

“We aim to continue to provide loving assistance, emotional and financial support for women and girls who find themselves in a crisis pregnancy,” readsthe goal of First Way Life Center.”

And although Stanek cautioned those present at The Shores of Turtle Creek banquet hall not to depend on politicians, she did observe, “While the other side continues to abort their babies, [ours]continue to be born.”

She suggested Pro-Lifers could “win the war by attrition.”

Making part of the pitch for donations at the event, whose entire cost had already been covered by sponsors, Stanek pointed out, “We are the hands and feet…and pocketbooks” of Jesus.

She urged people attending not to leave thinking, “I missed my chance.”

St. Thomas Catholic Church Urges Parishioners: “Vote for Life and Religious Liberty”

November 05, 2012 By: Cal Skinner Category: Catholic Church, Election, Obama Care, Pro-Life, Sign, St. Thomas Catholic Church

Here’s the sign next to crosses in front of St. Thomas Catholic Church on Route 176 in Crystal Lake.

The message in front of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Crystal Lake says, “Vote for Life and Religious Liberty.”

Notice all those “Vote Pro-Life” signs?

My guess is that most are front yards of Catholics.

And I understand that at at least one evangelical church, attendees were strong urged to vote.

What Do Dee Beaubien & Tammy Duckworth Really Believe about Abortion? The Personal PAC Questionnaire

October 30, 2012 By: Cal Skinner Category: Abortion, David McSweeney, Dee Boreing, Endorsement, Extreme, Extremist, Joe Walsh, Personal PAC, Pro-Choice, Pro-Life, Tammy Duckworth

After the deluge of publicity about how “extreme” Congressman Joe Walsh is on the abortion issue went unanswered, my frustration level grew so much that I posted the following on Capitol Fax Blog:

Cal Skinner – Monday, Oct 15, 12 @ 10:33 am:

Picture a bold Pro-Lifer’s response.

Run a video of a baby developing.

Say, “Not all of us are going to agree when this becomes a baby, but all of us are going to agree there is a baby before the baby is born.

“Tammy Duckworth believes that mothers should be able to abort their babies up until the day they are born.

“Now, that’s extreme.”

Run text along the bottom quoting what Duckworth’s told the Tribune: “Duckworth said she does not ’support any restrictions on a woman’s right to chose or her access to safe, affordable reproductive health services.”

Now, it would take a bold Pro-Life candidate to follow this advice and there have been none sighted in Illinois.

Something like this run against Pat Quinn during the last days of the campaign would have elected Bill Brady, I believe.

Dave McSweeney went in this direction in a mailing that got delivered on Saturday that can be seen here:

http://mchenrycountyblog.com/2012/10/14/mcsweeney-responds-to-beaubien-pounding-on-abortion-issue/

Also related to abortion, a Catholic Church in Crystal Lake went all in on Obama last weekend:

http://mchenrycountyblog.com/2012/10/15/crystal-lakes-st-thomas-parishioners-get-handout-like-none-they-have-ever-seen/

Below you will see the pro-abortion Personal PAC five-page questionnaire for legislative candidates. Personal PAC requires answers that agree with its positions in order to get an endorsement.

Take a read and see if you conclude that a Personal PAC-endorsed candidate has an “extreme” position on abortion.  Click on any page to enlarge it.

Two Ken Koehler Pieces Arrive Today

October 27, 2012 By: Cal Skinner Category: County Executive, Irene Napier, Ken Koehler, McHenry County, McHenry County Board., Medicare, Pro-Life, Senior, Senior Citizen

It’s a beautiful Saturday with people out raking leaves, taking leisurely walks and talking to neighbors.

And, I’ve been knocking on doors trying to convince people to vote against Jack Franks’ referendum to create a County Executive form of government.

The argument with which I am having the most success is pointing out that a County Executive would be able to spend up to $25,000 without prior County Board approval.

Hey, we live in Illinois. It doesn’t take a lot of imagination to envision abuses under such rules.

I even chafe when the McHenry County College Board spends up to $25,000 without going out for bid (allowed by a state law I did not vote for). I cringe to think of the potential abuses with no bids and no board approval.

In any event, when I went to the mailbox, I found two mailings from McHenry County Board Chairman and candidate for re-election in my District 2.

The first was addressed just me.

It was for senior citizens.

When did that happen?

In any event, the address side has a headline about “Fighting for Senior Healthcare in McHenry County!”

Ken Koehler’s senior piece came First Class. And it had a “Forever” stamp.

What’s that all about, I’m thinking as I look at it.

The back of senior healthcare post card from Ken Koehler says, “Medicare is being raided to the tun of $716 Billion and it is just wrong!”

There is a big headline on the back of the piece and a letter is teeny tiny print to U.S. House Speaker John Boehner opposing cuts in the Federal Medicare program.

I think it’s a stretch to use the issue in a county campaign, just as it is a stretch for Mike Madigan to use the issue four times (that I’ve published) on behalf of Independent Dee Beaubien.

There is also a sticker indicating that Koehler was endorsed by both the Northwest and Daily Heralds.

The second mailing was in an envelope from Pro-Life leader Irene Napier.

It came First Class, too.

Irene Napier argues that re-electing Ken Koehler will “promote good moral standards” as she bestows here “personal endorsement.”

Along with the letter came the same palm card that was enclosed with the pro-gun mailing.

What Caused a Homeowner Andrew Gasser Approached to “Turn from Red to Near Purple?”

October 19, 2012 By: Cal Skinner Category: Abolition, Andrew Gasser, David McSweeney, Dee Beaubien, Pro-Life

These Dave McSweeney, Dan Duffy and Mitt Romney signs replaced a Dee Beaubien sign.

It was this Catholic’s discovery that Dee Beaubien is not Pro-Life.

Read the whole story at Andrew Gasser’s Blog.

The upshot?:

“He then walked out and pulled the Beaubien sign out of the ground.”

Gasser’s advice to conservatives?

We conservatives must be fearless.

Message of the Day – Mixed

October 10, 2012 By: Cal Skinner Category: David McSweeney, Dee Beaubien, Donna Kurtz, Message of the Day, Personal PAC, Pro-Choice, Pro-Life, Sign

I see “Vote Pro-Life” yard signs popping up around the Crystal Lake area.

Usually they do not have a candidate sign next to them, which, it seems to me, minimizes the message.

After all, most people don’t know who the Pro-Life candidates are.

And there are actually candidates who are avowedly Pro-Choice.

In the Crystal Lake area, that includes State Rep. candidate Dee Beaubien (Ind.-Madigan), who has received significant campaign support from Personal PAC, the most radical pro-abortion outfit in the country.

Personal PAC posted endorsements for three County Board members prior to the March primary election:

  • Donna Kurtz
  • Jim Roden
  • Scott Summers

That brings us to our mixed message of the day:

Life Chain Sunday Tomorrow

October 06, 2012 By: Cal Skinner Category: Abortion, Life Chain, Pro-Life

You’ll see people holding Pro-Life signs in four McHenry County locations mid-afternoon tomorrow.

Pro-Life signs like these being held in front of Democratic Party Jack Franks’ Woodstock Office in 2009 will be seen in Crystal Lake, Harvard, McHenry and Richmond Sunday.

According to promotional material people will gather from 2-2:30 and take part in the nationwide demonstration from 2:30-3:30.

Organizers describe it as “A peaceful, prayful and powerful non-demonstration demonstration opposing abortion and the culture of death.”

Locations of the Life Chains in McHenry County follow:

  • HARVARD: Rte. 14 at Rte. 173 (Ayer Street), just North of St. Joseph Church

Madigan Doesn’t Wait for Personal PAC to Launch Abortion Attack

September 11, 2012 By: Cal Skinner Category: Abortion, David McSweeney, Dee Beaubien, Mike Madigan, Personal PAC, Pro-Choice, Pro-Life, Uncategorized

Late last week Democrat Mike Madigan’s campaign folks unleashed the first attempt to drive people away from Republican David McSweeney using the abortion issue.

This is the address side of the Democratic Party of Illinois mailing on behalf of Dee Beaubien (Ind.-Madigan). It uses the issue of abortion to try to drive voters in Beaubien’s direction.

Most observers thought that it would be the pro-abortion Personal PAC that would do the heavy lifting on this topic.

According to the headline, Dave McSweeney’s position on abortion is “Unspeakable.”

But the Madigan strategists must think the issue needed playing sooner than Personal PAC.

Personal PAC is known for charging, late in the campaign, that Republican Pro-Life candidates want to put women who have abortions in jail.
