Just in case you’re interested.

In Chicago the media and taxpayers are interested in the Cook County sales tax hike that went into effect the same day as Crystal Lake’s.

Neither anyone on Crystal Lake’s city council nor any Crystal Lake citizen seems interested.

300 Days Since Mayor Aaron Shepley’s 75% Sales Tax Increase Went Into Effect

April 26, 2009 By: Cal Skinner Category: 75% Sales Tax Hike, Aaron Shepley, Cook County, Crystal Lake, Sale Tax, Todd Stroger

Reminded by today’s Chicago Tribune editorial page, I pass on this reminder to you.

How different has been the Chicago Tribune’s reaction to Cook County Board President Todd Stroger’s sales tax increase last July 1st from that of the Northwest Herald to Crystal Lake Mayor Aaron Sehpley’s July 1st tax hike.

Not only is the Tribune on Stroger’s back, but so is the Chicago Sun-Times.

Just take a look at the modification of the stars on the Chicago flag Tom Frisbie created, complete with scull and crossbones.

Piracy also occurred to this Crystal Lake blogger and Heck of a Guy blogger Allan Showalter, who created this Crystal Lake pirate ship.

Part 3 – How High Is the Mayor Aaron Shepley’s Crystal Lake Sales Tax Hike?

“You’re way off,” Cat Dad said.

“Crystal Lake Mayor Aaron Shepley is trying to fool you into thinking his 75% sales tax increased is smaller than it really is.

“Have you heard people complaining about the RTA sales tax that went into effect April Fool’s Day?

“Boy, are we fools to be paying that extra half cent on a dollar to bail out the CTA!” Cat Dad said.

“Sure, the McHenry County Board is going to get half of it, but they won’t spend it all on roads, the way they should.

“Try again, Keely.

“Look higher.

“Mayor Shepley’s sales tax hike is a 75% sales tax hike.

“That’s really high.”

“Maybe you are right,” Keely replied, upon reflection.

“Now can I have some cat candy?”

Sure, Keely Cat is an experienced tax fighter.

He beat the McHenry County Republican Cat Tax, didn’t he?

Oh, I know you were afraid at first.

But, you turned into a real helper the way you kept watch for those McHenry County Republican Cat Tax Collectors.

When Cat Dad put that slip of paper in your litter box saying, “75% Crystal Lake Sales Tax Hike,” I know I know it scared you.

But, you can’t get rid of Mayor Aaron Shepley’s 75% Crystal Lake Sales Tax Hike by covering it up.

That works for excrement, but not for taxes.

You need to take more forceful action.

Put on your thinking cap.
