Message of the Day – A Sweatshirt

December 23, 2012 By: Cal Skinner Category: Christmas, Message of the Day, Santa, Santa Claus

Today we dip into the photo archives to show you a red sweatshirt a young man was wearing at a McHenry Marlins swim meet.

“Dear Santa” is the theme of this boy’s sweatshirt.

There are all sorts of great lines on this Christmas sweatshirt:

  • Can we talk?
  • Please don’t talk to my teacher.
  • Check your list again.
  • The other kids had a lot to do with it!!!
  • Does “Mostly Good” count??
  • I really did try!
  • I TRIED!
  • I had a bad year!
  • My sister did it.
  • I’ll explain.
  • Save time and drop my sister!!!
  • My brother did it!
  • Define good.
  • I was framed.
  • It wasn’t my fault.
  • The dog did it.

Message of the Day – A Sign

May 08, 2012 By: Cal Skinner Category: Message of the Day, Recall, Santa, Santa Claus, Scott Walker, Sign, Wisconsin

Today is the big day in neighboring Wisconsin.

It’s the labor unions’ Recall election day.

My niece found this satirical sign near her son’s day care center in Milwaukee:

The sign says, "Recall Santa. I didn't get what I wanted!"

For those who wish to help get out the vote for Governor Scott Walker, there are lists that could be provided so you could make phone calls from home.

Message of the Day – A Tee Shirt

December 26, 2010 By: Cal Skinner Category: Christmas, Message of the Day, Santa, Santa Claus, T-Shirt, Tee Shirt

A 4-year old grand nephew wore this tee shirt Christmas morning.

When the red head came into the living room and saw the toys, he said,

“I must have made the list.

“That was pretty close.”

Secret Santa at the Sheriff’s Office

November 26, 2010 By: Cal Skinner Category: James Sotos, Keith Nygren, McHenry County Sheriff, McHenry County Sheriff's Department, Michael Mahoney, P. Michael Mahoney, Santa, Santa Claus, Spring Hill Mall, Zane Seipler

The Spring Hill Mall Santa from years past.

Last week, I explained what happened at Federal Magistrate Michael Mahoney’s court room when three McHenry County deputies tried to get out of answering questions in former Deputy Zane Seipler’s wrongful termination court case.

As background Keith Nygren attorney James Sotos characterized the relationship between Seipler and the three his attorney Blake Horwitz sought successfully to depose:

“They hate each other.”

Since this is the traditional start of the Christmas shopping season, I thought it might be appropriate today to share Magistrate Mahoney ‘s sense of humor with you:

“I can’t wait to see the Secret Santas in the Sheriff’s Department.”

Dave Warwak received a strong warning today from his hometown police.

The warning came in response to parent and teacher complaints who were in attendance.

Accompanied by his dog, Warwak allegedly entered the town’s annual homecoming parade and passed out small cards to children.

Police stopped Warwak, escorted him home and instructed him to “stay away from the town’s children”.

At particular issue with police was Warwak telling children, Santa Claus is not real.

The card’s front reads:

Remember the Santa Claus lie?
One lie is so bad, some people prefer to keep it hidden.
So hidden, some never find out!
Do you want to live a lie?

The back reads:

Go to your favorite search engine.
Look-up “Factory Farming” Look-up “Vegan”
“Naming a rock, a banana, does not make it food”

A teacher of ten years in Illinois, Warwak was recently fired for his vegan views. Warwak filed an appeal in response to his termination. No date has been set.
