Saturday Meet and Greet the GOP Candidates for Governor in Barrington

If it were a presidential election, an event being held in Barrington Saturday, August 8th, would be deemed a “cattle call.”

Candidates for the Republican nomination for governor will be at Citizens Park on Lake Zurich Road in Barrington.

Lake, McHenry, DuPage, Kane and Cook County Young Republicans are sponsoring the event.

Mike Tryon 86.5% Conservative, Mark Beaubien at 88%

That’s what the United Republican Fund rack-up says about Crystal Lake’s Mike Tryon.

And his colleague from the east, Republican Mark Beaubien came in at 88%.

South of the McHenry-Kane County line, Tim Schmitz received a 87.5% rating.

You can see the legislation included in the scoring here.

Democratic Party State Representative Jack Franks got 75%.

In the State Senate, McHenry County’s Pam Althoff received a 66% favorable rating, while Kane County’s Chris Lauzen came in at 50%. Lauzen’s low score seems to be the result of having missed three of the six issues selected.

United Republican Fund Praises Only Mike Tryon of McHenry County Legislators

The United Republican Fund has issued a legislative report card and State Rep. Mike Tryon is the only one of McHenry County five legislators to gain the conservative organization’s praise.

Roll calls selected concentrate on

  1. Limited Government
  2. Individual Liberty
  3. Free Enterprise and
  4. Traditional Values

Bills whose roll calls are included in the report card can be found here.

Tryon scored 85% in the ranking, voting contrary to the position of the URF on the budget, Senate Bill 479 and Senate Bill 715.

SB 479 requires that service contracts include a clause that a responsible bidder or offeror must certify (i) that it shall offer to assume the collective bargaining obligations of the prior employer and (ii) that it shall offer employment to any employees currently in any existing bargaining unit who perform substantially similar work.

SB 715 requires the Department of Human Services to initiate 20 new school health centers over a 5-year period beginning July 1, 2007, and build capacity with existing school health centers.

Franks scored 30%, Beaubien 45%, Althoff 65% and Peterson 55%.
