Message of the Day – Recall

May 29, 2012 By: Cal Skinner Category: Recall, Recall Santa, Santa, Scott Walker, Wisconsin

Remember the “Recall Santa” yard sign a friend of McHenry County Blog found in the Milwaukee area.

Now someone has turned it into a tee shirt and trade marked the phrase.

"Recall Santa - I didn't get hat I wanted!" is one message of the anti-recall supporters of Scott Walker.

I found this web site for Recall Santa. It is the one with the t-shirt.

It is amusing.

Consider this statement:

“We were all lied to regarding this so called ‘naughty list’ and so many of us were then deprived of what we wanted.

“Is it too much to ask for everyone to get equal present rights!

“Santa Must Go!!!!!!

A week from now Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker will learn whether he has been recalled from office or not.

National Democrats are downplaying the importance of the vote now that the polls are pointing to victory for Walker.

Poll Has Walker Leading in Wisconsin

May 24, 2012 By: Cal Skinner Category: Poll, Scott Walker, We Ask America, Wisconsin

Danielle Rowe has been helping the Scott Walker campaign.

A press release from We Ask America:

Turnout

You have to hand it to Wisconsin’s electorate: they are passionate about their politics.

When we first polled the Dairy State’s voters about Republican Gov. Scott Walker’s plummeting approval ratings, many right-leaning types let the blogosphere know how We Ask America’s minions are leaving a ring around the world’s gene pool.

Not to be outdone, our May 13 poll showing Democrat Tom Barrett trailing Walker in their June 5 recall election brought out some equally interesting diatribes from a handful of left-leaning readers.

Our favorite: an email suggesting that we should develop carnal relationships with rusty farm implements.

The latest hub-bub died down a bit soon after when a Marquette Law School poll was released showing results within the margin of error of ours.

Despite the high emotions, its time again to ask Wisconsin voters whether they intend to retain Republican Scott Walker as their governor, or if they prefer Democrat Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett instead.

We asked 1,409 likely voters that question the evening of May 23. Here’s what they said:

In brief, here are the questions we asked:

  • Do you plan to vote in the June 5th election? (Negative responses were dropped)
  • If the election were held today, for whom would you vote? (Barrett/Walker options rotated)
  • Gender?
  • Age?
  • Are you or any member of your household a member of a public employee union household?

The “public union household” question was asked at the suggestion of a reader.

About 17% identified themselves as a member of a public union household.

Frankly, we look at this figure with a somewhat skeptical eye due to the relatively milquetoast lead Barrett has among those households.

Then again, past polls have detected instances where rank-and-file union members were less passionate on issues than their leaders; the national polls on Card Check showed clearly showed that.

While Walker seems to have built on his lead, those who say this race is all about turnout make an extremely important point.

Too many polls point to Walker as the choice of the electorate to slough off the numbers.

But which side will have the better get-out-the-vote effort?

A massive, well-organized GOTV program by Barrett’s supporters combined with enough of Walker’s supporters staying home can change everything.

Of course, Walker–who has a massive fundraising edge–knows that and won’t be holding anything back.

While the final results may be closer than recent poll indicate, it’s hard to see any “Dewey Defeats Truman” scenario.

In the meantime, we’ll brace ourselves for another round of imaginative suggestions from the North Woods.

Message of the Day – A Sign

May 08, 2012 By: Cal Skinner Category: Message of the Day, Recall, Santa, Santa Claus, Scott Walker, Sign, Wisconsin

Today is the big day in neighboring Wisconsin.

It’s the labor unions’ Recall election day.

My niece found this satirical sign near her son’s day care center in Milwaukee:

The sign says, "Recall Santa. I didn't get what I wanted!"

For those who wish to help get out the vote for Governor Scott Walker, there are lists that could be provided so you could make phone calls from home.

You can sign up at myscottspot.org.

Signs of the Wisconsin Recall Elections

May 05, 2012 By: Cal Skinner Category: Danielle Rowe, Rebecca Kleefisch, Recall, Scott Walker, Van Wanggaard, Wisconsin

"Reclaim Wisconsin, Recall Walker," urges this yard sign.

Recall elections are coming up Tuesday in Wisconsin for Governor Scott Walker, his Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch and Republican State Senator Van Wanggaard, who represents Racine County and the deciding vote in the State Senate.

These two yard signs appear to be lit at night. They say, "Stand with Walker."

Republicans, of course, are trying to keep Wanggaard in office so the Democrats don’t take control of that body in Madison.

United Wisconsin has a sign saying, "Recall Walker."

Danielle Rowe is recruiting people to go to Racine to help encourage Republicans to vote between now and when the polls close on Saturday.

This sign says. "Walker for Sportsmen."

And, if you don’t have time to go in person, there are lists that could be provided so you could make phone calls from home.

You can make phone calls from home now through the primary election by signing up at myscottspot.org.

Milwaukee seeks to be the Democratic Party's candidate to oppose Republican Scott Walker. He is Milwaukee's Mayor.

Danielle Rowe Seeks Volunteers as Illinois Tea Party Wisconsin Recall Election Coordinator

May 03, 2012 By: Cal Skinner Category: Danielle Rowe, Recall, Scott Walker, Wisconsin

Scott Walker spoke to those who took the Family PAC Cruise last summer.

An email from former State Rep. candidate Danielle Rowe:

You do not need to wait until November to make an impact in an election that is critically important to the direction of our country.

What happens in the Wisconsin recall primary this Tuesday, May 8 and the recall election on June 5 will affect every state in the nation, including Illinois.

Rep. Paul Ryan has called this recall election the second most important election in the country in 2012, and he’s right.

I am honored to have been named the Illinois Tea Party Wisconsin Recall Election Coordinator.

The Illinois Tea Party fully supports Governor Scott Walker and Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch and their brave reforms that have helped move Wisconsin in the right direction.

They grew Wisconsin’s economy, created tens of thousands of private sector jobs, lowered unemployment to 6.8%, fully funded their state pensions and balanced their budget WITHOUT raising taxes.

WI Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch speaks at the Chicago Tax Day Tea Party

I introduced Wisconsin Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch at the 2012 Chicago Tax Day Tea Party.

At that rally, Kleefisch told us,

“This recall election in Wisconsin is about big union power. It is about these big union bosses maintaining government control–of a government that may want to control you.

“We are a harbinger, a canary in the coal mine. And we are sounding the alarm–that if the big unions can wrestle control back from We the People–then if it could happen in Wisconsin it could happen anywhere. So we could go backward–but we choose forward,”

“Forward” is the state motto of Wisconsin.

Unlike President Obama, who is using Forward as his campaign slogan, Walker and Kleefisch have moved Wisconsin’s economy forward, cut spending and balanced their budget.

Can we count on you?

Danielle Rowe

Whether you want to go to Wisconsin or help from your own home, there are many ways you can help support Scott Walker during this critical recall election:

  • Make phone calls from home: You can make phone calls from home now through the primary election by signing up at myscottspot.org.
  • Make phone calls from the Racine Victory Center: Racine is a swing district, and it’s just across the border. The Democrats are targeting Senator Van Wangggaard to hurt Scott Walker. If Wanggaard loses, Walker and the Republicans lose their majority in the Senate. We will be making phone calls from the Victory Center now through the election.
  • Walk for Scott Walker THIS SATURDAY, MAY 5: Volunteers are meeting at the Racine Victory Center from 9AM to 10AM this Saturday, May 5. Lunch will be provided. You can canvass from 9 or 10AM until 12:30PM, and/or 1:30PM until dark or when you finish with your packet of 40-60 homes.
  • Be a poll watcher on May 8 or June 5: Illinois residents are eligible to serve as poll watchers during the May 8 recall primary and the June 5 recall election.

Calls to vote in the primary are critical for Scott Walker.

He has a progressive Republican opponent named Arthur Kohl-Riggs. Arthur was a protestor in Madison against the Pension Reform Bill. He calls himself a “Progressive Republican”.

WI has an Open Primary.

The concern is that the Democrats will cross over to vote for Arthur in the Primary which would throw Gov. Walker out of office.

The goal is to make Walker supporters aware that they MUST vote in this Primary to stop the Democrats attempt to cross over and vote for his opponent.

Can you help?

If you can help, please call me at 847-773-7693 or email me at rowe@danielleforil.com

Wis. Lt. Gov. Endorses Danielle Rowe, Says She Fears Rowe May Be So Successful that Chicago Dems Will Hide Out North of the Border

February 23, 2012 By: Cal Skinner Category: Danielle Rowe, David McSweeney, Kent Gaffney, Lt. Governor, Rebecca Kleefisch, Scott Walker, Wisconsin

A press release from State Rep. candidate Danielle Rowe. She is facing off against appointed incumbent Kent Gaffney and David McSweeney.

LT. GOVERNOR OF WISCONSIN STANDS WITH DANIELLE ROWE

ISLAND LAKE – Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch is standing with conservative reformer Danielle Rowe because she is the only candidate in the 52nd District race who can bring revolutionary change to Illinois.

Wis. Lt.. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch

Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch had this to say about Danielle Rowe,

“Gov. Scott Walker and I, along with Republicans in the State Legislature, turned things around in Wisconsin by translating conservative grassroots principles into public policy.

“As a result, we’ve grown jobs, fully funded our state pensions and balanced our state budget without raising taxes.

“Danielle Rowe is exactly the type of conservative, grassroots leader Illinois needs in its General Assembly.

“I believe Rowe will do what she says when it comes to standing for pro-growth economic policies that respect the small business owner/operator and standing against the profligate tax-borrow-spend culture in Springfield that has decimated Illinois’ economy.

“My only fear is that Rowe will be so effective in Springfield she may drive Chicago Democrats north of the border to hide out in Wisconsin.”

Danielle Rowe

“I am honored to have such a prominent conservative woman standing with me in my campaign,” Rowe said.

“She is a fighter and I am a fighter.”

“We don’t accept the status quo and we challenge the false premises and bad policies that have led to economic devastation in our states.

“We need revolutionary reforms like those in Wisconsin to turn our state around.”

“The voters in our district have a clear choice,” Rowe said.

“I support the reforms of Governor Walker and Lt. Governor Kleefisch and my opponents do not.”

“I support the revolutionary change Governor Scott Walker and Lt. Governor Kleefisch have delivered in Wisconsin.

“Walker & Kleefisch inherited a $3.6 billion budget deficit and they stopped runaway spending and borrowing, balanced the budget in one year without raising taxes and created tens of thousands of private sector jobs as a result of their improved business climate.

“My opponents represent the status quo in Illinois and a continuation of the same old, failed policies that got us into this mess in the first place.”

Putting her grassroots conservative principles into policy action is what led to Danielle Rowe’s endorsement by the Illinois Tea Party.

Rowe is the first woman and first State Representative candidate ever endorsed by the statewide tea party organization.

Rowe’s campaign has also been highlighted by American Grizzlies United and Organizing 4 Palin.

Danielle is the only state representative candidate in the entire country to have earned that distinction from the Sarah Palin supporting grassroots organization.

Rowe went to Wisconsin and stood with Republican Governor Scott Walker and Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch when they were fighting for revolutionary change in early 2011.

Rowe returned to Wisconsin last summer to help coordinate the State Senate recall campaigns against Democrat legislators who fled to Illinois instead of doing their jobs and voting up or down on real reforms.

Spring Grove Tea Party Members Rally for Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker

January 22, 2012 By: Cal Skinner Category: Lori Lee White, Rally, Recall, Scott Walker, Spring Grove, TEA Party, Wawautosa, Wisconsin

Earlier this weekend, I ran an article about how McHenry County Democrats had been encouraged to go to Wisconsin to work on the Recall Scott Walker effort.

Looking at the crowd in Wauwatosa Saturday. The sign you attempts to frame the recall campaign. It crosses out "Union Privileges" and touts"Taxpayer Rights."

Saturday Lori Lee White and her husband went to a Wisconsin rally for the retention of Governor Scott Walker in office. They live in the border town of Spring Grove in the most northeastern township in McHenry County and have a business in Wisconsin.

A man wearing the cheese head hat that a Wisconsin company produced in reaction to Illinos residents' mocking reference to our neighbors to the north has a bumper sticker that says, "Stand with Walker."

When I learned where they had gone form a Friend of McHenry County Blog, I asked if she would convey some a message that I would appreciate some photos of the event.

A view of the crowd in Wawautosa.

White, who is running for Republican Precinct Committeeman in Burton Township’s 3rd precinct (the only one running in any of the three precincts), did better than send photos. She wrote why they traveled above the state line to support Governor Walker in Wauwatosa.

Another view of the crowd supporting Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker.

An Associated Press said “hundreds rally.” Fox News in Green Bay, also citing the AP, reported “over thousand.”

Take a look at the photo in the Milwaukee Journal (whose cut line says “a couple thousand”) or the ones White took and judge for yourself.

Below is what White wrote:

Lori Lee White

The reason my husband and I attended the rally for Governor Walker, is that we are business owners in Wisconsin.

We see the positive changes Governor Walker has made in only one year of being Governor. In just one election, Wisconsin turned over a majority of elected seats to Republicans.

I am intrigued as to how a state can turn over and win majority, a majority the state hasn’t held in 50 years.

The positive changes Governor Walker has done in one year,

  • balanced their state budget,
  • Wisconsin property owners have a permanent property tax freeze,
  • they have voter ID law,
  • conceal carry (2nd amendment), and
  • Governor Walker just passed the “Castle Doctrine”.

Not only did Wisconsin balance their budget, they turned a deficit into a surplus.

In just one year.

What is not to celebrate if you are from Wisconsin?

The unions and the Democrats are not happy that the balanced budget gave the union employees choices.

Freedoms as to whether or not they want to even be part of a union.

Freedoms and choices in their healthcare providers.

The sign you can read relates to teacher health insurance premiums and pension payments. "We don't think having to pay for 12% of your own health care and 5% of your own pension is too much to ask." On the left hand side, it says, "Scott Walker, The Taxpayers HERO! We pay for our own health care. Why should we have to pay for 100% of yours?"

The unions are fighting to keep their money flow from the taxpayers.

That is why they are recalling Governor Walker.

Governor Walker is standing up for the taxpayers and our grandchildren’s generation.

The canine did not boast a "Dogs for Walker" sign. This was about when the crowd peaked.

The rally was a thank you to Governor Walker for doing what is right and protecting the taxpayers.

That was the theme of the speeches that we heard, from

  • Rebecca Kleefisch-(Lt.Governor),
  • Tommy Thompson-(WI Senate Candidate & previous Gov.),
  • Tonette Walker (Governor Walker’s wife),
  • Jeff Fitzgerald(Wi Assembly Speaker),
  • several young Republicans,
  • a 16 yr old varsity football player, and
  • a Marquette University young Repbublican leader.

So, many more were lined up to speak. To thank Governor Walker!!!!

Many of the speeches compared the unions and the Democrats to Illinois.

They compare themselves to what Illinois is like.

Wisconsin just got a credit upgrade, Illinois is downgraded. I

Illinois raised their taxes and still can’t balance a budget, Wisconsin balances their budget and turns a deficit into a surplus.

We, Illinois residents, are a laughing stock to Wisconsinites.

They are doing the right thing, they are supporting their Governor who works for them, gives the Wisconsin residents a voice.

We in Illinois do not have a voice.

Our representatives don’t work for us, they don’t listen to us.

They should have been at the rally to see how to get their job done.

It was an awesome, AWESOME, inspiring day!!!!!

Those who wish to assist Governor Walker could do so now, by volunteering for the recall signature verification project.

Another Friend of McHenry County Blog took photos at last February’s rally and counter rally around the Wisconsin State Capitol in Madison.  That was the time period when the Wisconsin Demcoratic Party Senators were hiding in Harvard and Woodstock.

Madison Paper Sets Sights on Turning Wisconsin’s I-90 into a Tollway

October 02, 2011 By: Cal Skinner Category: Madison, Toll Tax Payers, Toll Tax Thieves, Wisconsin, Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin State Journal

The family's five-year old loves to watch the trains delivering food at Wisconsin Dell's Buffalo Phil's, where we dropped over a $100 into Wisconsin pockets, not counting the money grabbers at the arcade.

The Wisconsin State Journal isn’t satisfied with the economic shot in the pocket book that Illinois tourists and students bring to its state’s economy.

It wants more of Illinois residents’ shrinking family income.

The Skinner family was in the Wisconsin Dells at the three water park Wilderness Territory.

I read some interesting depositions and finished up a novel on England’s King Alfred.

And, I handed my credit card to numerous Wisconsin establishments.

Now, the liberals who editorialize to the socialist City of Madison and spread their opinions free of charge (very ideologically pure that paper is) to the resort’s visitors are calling on Congress to allow any state to turn four- or six-lane highways into tollways.

Just like Illinois.

The top of the Wisconsin State Journal's editorial in favor of turning freeways into tollways...at least near Illinois.

In fact, the illustration in the editorial is a photo of toll lanes in Illinois.

If there is any doubt as to the target of this suggestion, read the following:

“An our neighbors to the south–all those Illinois tourists who flock to Wisconsin on weekends and throughout the summer–would contribute to the cost.”

Marengo Burglers Believed Arrested

September 09, 2011 By: Cal Skinner Category: James Tarrant, Marengo, Nicholas Batzler, Rock County, Wisconsin

A September 9th press release from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department:

Further investigation revealed that four residential burglaries were committed in Rock County, and the vehicle contained proceeds from the burglaries including televisions, guns and pillow cases.

Investigators from Boone, Rock, Ogle, Winnebago and McHenry County are investigating residential burglaries that may be connected to these two offenders.

Two search warrants were executed on residences and more stolen property was recovered, including proceeds from two residential burglaries in McHenry County.

Nicholas Batzler

Charges of Residential Burglary and Theft are forthcoming against Tarrant.

The investigation continues and additional charges are pending.

The Rock County, Wisconsin, Sheriff’s press release of September 6th follows:

Since the beginning of August, the Rock County Sheriff’s Office has experienced an increase in residential burglaries.

During the investigation, Rock County Sheriff’s Office detectives learned that Boone, McHenry, Ogle and Winnebago counties were experiencing similar residential burglaries.

Authorities in Illinois had a description of a silver Cavalier that was possibly involved in their burglaries. On Friday, September 2, 2011 around 1:00 p.m., the RCSO received information of a suspicious silver color
vehicle on Pomeroy Road in Fulton Township. A RCSO detective responded to the area and observed a silver vehicle leaving a residence.

The detective stopped at the residence and discovered no one was home.

He was able to determine the residence had been burglarized.

Detectives located the vehicle again at an address on County F near Indianford.

Shortly after locating the vehicle, detectives observed the vehicle
leave the residence. There were two adult males in the vehicle. The vehicle was stopped by RCSO detectives on County F on the south side of Edgerton.

The two males were taken into custody.

Located in the back seat of the vehicle were several

  • flat screened televisions,
  • pillow cases containing items believed to be stolen,
  • a black powder rifle and
  • two handguns.

While detectives were on the scene of the traffic stop, dispatch received a call from a homeowner on State Highway 59 reporting their house had been recently burglarized. It was determined the two suspects were responsible for that residential burglary as well.

They were arrested on charges of burglary and theft and transported to the Rock County Jail. Detectives from

  • Boone,
  • McHenry,
  • Ogle and
  • Winnebago

Nicholas Batzler

counties are also investing these two suspects for burglaries in their respective counties.

All investigations are continuing.

The following arrests have been made:

  • Nicholas Jay Batzler: White Male, DOB 08/31/1979 from Loves Park, Illinois was arrested

by Rock County Detectives on four counts of Burglary and Theft.
