Denzel Hayes

A press release from the Crystal lake Police Department:

On November 27th 2011, a Crystal Lake resident reported that his 13 year old daughter had been receiving harassing text messages via her cell phone and Facebook account from an 18 year old male.

Police were also informed that the messages were sexually explicit and that the subject was trying to arrange to meet with the 13 year old female.

An investigation into the allegation revealed the suspect, Denzel Hayes had, in fact, sent sexually explicit messages not only to the reported victim but to two (2) other female juveniles who are also Crystal Lake residents.

On Tuesday, December 27th, 2011, at 1242 hours; Denzel Hayes (19), of 511 Leah Lane #1B, Woodstock, IL was located at the Woodstock Library where he was subsequently arrested for

  • one count of Indecent Solicitation of a Child (under 13 years of age) Class 1 Felony,
  • one count of Indecent Solicitation of a Child (13 years of age and 5 years difference in age of the alleged suspect) Class 3 Felony and
  • one count of Solicitation to meet with a child (Class A Misdemeanor).

The bond was set on the initial felonies at $40,000 and $3,500 on the misdemeanor charge.

The alleged offender remained in the custody of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Adult Correctional Facility while the investigation continued.

The subsequent investigation revealed that Denzel Hayes had knowingly solicited and had in his possession sexually explicit photographic images of a female child, under the age of thirteen.

On January 3rd, 2012, Detectives obtained a six count warrant for Aggravated Child Pornography (Class X Felonies) and served Hayes who was still in custody.

Additional bond was set at $100,000 with the bond for all charges totaling $143,500 with 10% to apply.

Independence Day Effort in Wonder Lake to Create Wonder Lake Library District

July 04, 2008 By: Cal Skinner Category: Jeff Gerhardt, McHenry Library District, Wonder Lake, Wonder Lake Library District, Woodstock Library, Woodstock Rural Library District

Wonder Lake is a large community, but it is divided as far as school and library districts and townships go, not to mention the lake.

The east side is in McHenry Township and McHenry High School District 156. The west side is in Greenwood Township and Woodstock Unit District 200.

The Woodstock library serves the west side, while the east side pays taxes to the McHenry Library District.

There is little doubt that Wonder Lake is short-changed as far as library services go. The libraries are just too far away.

Jeff Gerhardt is spearheading a campaign to create a new library district that will be centered in Wonder Lake.

He and others are planning to pass petitions to put such a question on the ballot during the water sky show, the 4th of July Parade and the fireworks. He can be reached for details at 630-637-1234.

Gerhardt sent me extensive information on it which I have not posted in a timely manner. If you are interested in details, they will appear in four installments starting today (see below).
