Daily Herald Can’t Resist Another Swipe at District 300 Board

Here’s the short little whomp from Saturday’s editorial page:

Darn media again!

Some School District 300 board members are sure it’s the media’s fault the public has misconceptions about the district’s attitude toward open meetings and freedom of information laws.

Um, it wasn’t the media who banned a district taxpayer from district property over information requests.

And it isn’t the media who are in need of a review of those pertinent laws.

It’s the responsibility of the school board, not the district administration, to know the laws, set the district’s policies accordingly and see that they are followed.

“We need to make sure we have a good handle on what the law is, as well as our philosophy on disseminating information,” said board member Anne Miller.

Exactly.

The flat screen television set you see is in the District 300 administration building where one goes to pick up freedom of information requests.

It’s not playing highlights of the last District 300 board meeting. It’s playing, oh no, yes, it’s CNN. Certainly not FOX News.
