Transformer Pervert

Our family went to the McHenry Drive-In Theatre to see the movie “Transformers.”

My son, of course, knows all about Transformers.

“Transformers…

“Robots in disguise.

“Tranformers…

“More than meets the eye.”

How can one ever forget that kids’ television theme song?

As is typical with Hollywood, the movie had a subplot about clueless parents.

In one scene the beautiful 11th grade girl has climbed in the boy’s second floor bedroom. They are talking loud enough for the parents to hear them from downstairs.

The good transformers are outside trashing the lawn that the father so carefully tends. The boy is looking for his explorer grandfather’s spectacles.

The robots are shining lights into the bedroom window that the parents see under the hall door.

The mother starts asking questions, one of which was:

“Were you masturbating?”

“What’s masturbating mean?” my son asks.

Just what parents of a 10-year old wants to discuss during what should have been a G-rated movie.

But, wait.

It gets worse.

When the mom and dad see the girl, they don’t make a comment.

Their son seems to be the type who has never had a date in high school and they express no surprise that a pretty teen is in his bedroom.

And the parents reaction?

No problem.

So, who was the pervert in Hollywood responsible for these stunning lapses in judgment?

The Camaro transformer’s name is Bumblebee. When he transforms he is a lot bigger.

And really cool.

  1. Maybe we can go back to the days of TV and movies depicting married couples in separate beds….

Five minutes of research BEFORE the movie and you could have avoided the uncomfortable “incident”.

According to the rating (the link below includes the rating information on the lower left side of the page), Transformers was rated PG-13 due to “intense sequences of sci-fi action violence, BRIEF SEXUAL HUMOR, and language.”

Do the research ahead of time. Don’t call the movie makers perverts because you failed to do your job as a parent. The information was there before you bought your tickets.

  2. Uhhhh Shawn, one should not have to research a ‘children’s’ movie. What is sexual humor doing in there anyway? Sad.

  3. What happened to personal responsibility? Cal failed to appropriately determine what the movie included. The PG-13 (emphasis on 13) rating should have been clue enough that the movie might not be suited for younger kids.

To call the movie makers perverts b/c Cal was too careless to heed the rating is nonsensical. Cal screwed up – not the movie producers.

  4. Gotta side with Shawn on this one…

….one should not have to research a ‘children’s’ movie. What is sexual humor doing in there anyway?

That sounds like entitlement talking: “Entertain me, I’m entitled!” As far as I know, no one is required to go see the movie – much less to bring their under-13 child.
