The Chicago Tribune is reporting that the nine-ton, $2.6 million worth of still-unpaid-for flu vaccine that Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich bought on his own was destroyed by Pakistani public health officials when they discovered it was outdated.

The European distributor, Ecosse Hospital Products Ltda., sued Illinois after State Comptroller Dan Hynes refused to pay the bill, based on Illinois’ not having received the product.
