A Runner’s View of the Chicago Marathon

John Ruberry, known by “Marathon Pundit” on the computer screen, took place in the Chicago Marathon yesterday.

If you want to read about it from a runner’s viewpoint, here’s the place to do it.

He said when he saw ambulances from Mundelein and Summit, the first time he has seen suburban emergency vehicles in Chicago, he knew there were serious problems.

Of course, there are intergovernmental agreements among various Mutual Aid Box Alarm Systems. McHenry County is even pledged to seen emergency equipment to Chicago, if called upon.

And, they won’t charge the way Harvard did when it seen a hand pumper by train to fight the Great Chicago Fire.

You can enlarge the photograph to see the details. It was taken “on top of the railroad bridge on Roosevelt Road about 1/4 mile from the finish,” Ruberry informs me.
