Wednesday’s the day that former Governor George Ryan goes to jail.

Neither the 7th Appellate District Court nor the U.S. Supreme Court would let him stay out on bail.

And, would you believe, the New York Times mentioned former Crystal Laker Don Udstuen, a long-time political adviser and fund raiser for Ryan, now said to have moved back to his wife’s home area near Peoria.

Want to be that Udstuen’s name won’t appear in the Northwest Herald?

It comes too close to home, I’ll bet, Udsteum’s having been such a close advisor to former McHenry County Republican Party Chairman Al Jourdan and all.

Now, for the sake of full disclosure, Udstuen and his wife attended one of my 1992 post-primary victory dinners at 1776. They won a Robert Stewart crystal box that throw splendid rainbow colors if set in the sun. Jourdan and others who decided I was too independent to allow in office attended it, too.
