Ron Paul Presidential Campaign Headquarters Opens in Arlington Heights

Libertarian-minded folks have opened an Arlington Heights campaign headquarters this week for Republican United States Presidential candidate Dr. Ron Paul.

The location is in International Plaza, the shopping center of successful businesses, which Arlington Heights city mothers and fathers are trying to condemn so a big box store can take its place.

Here’s what Cary’s Chris Jenner, a candidate for alternate delegate on the Paul ticket sent me about the event:

An overflow crowd of at least 125 poured into the suburban Cook County Ron Paul Headquarters for its grand opening Wednesday night, November 7th. RP HQ is at 136 E. Golf Rd. in Arlington Heights.

It’s in International Plaza, which was spared being confiscated by eminent domain abuse thanks to the efforts of a group spearheaded by Ron Paul supporter and former state rep. candidate Scott Bludorn.

The event included petition notarizing and talks by headquarters’ organizer Bludorn, Illinois Ron Paul petition coordinator Jason Acebal, and Illinois Ron Paul Campaign Chair Joe Cesarone.

The night was climaxed by a 30 minute conference call with Ron Paul himself, a prize won by the Chicago area Ron Paul meetup group in a fundraising contest over the summer.

The Northwest suburban Ron Paul Headquarters is open for business, stocked with signs, buttons, and campaign literature. It will also be the base of operations for petitioning and canvassing efforts in the north and west suburban Chicago areas. Pictures from the grand opening are at here.

Dr. Paul is the only candidate to show any level of volunteers outside of the Mitt Romney people who were bused in for the presidential straw poll on Republican Day at the Illinois State Fair. Republican Party dirty tricks kept Paul from coming in second.

Dr. Paul is also only candidate to have held a campaign rally in Illinois.

The rest just come in to pick up checks

Oh, yes.

Almost forgot.

They hold a press conference, too.

Besides Jenner, McHenry County residents running as alternate delegates for Ron Paul are Cary resident Clyde C. Harrison and Benjamin J. Lane of Marengo.

On November 5th the national Ron Paul headquarters sent out following impressive one-day fundraising results:

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA — Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul beat all online primary fundraising records at 4:00pm today. In 16 hours, the Ron Paul campaign brought in over $2.7 million in online contributions, making it the largest single-day online primary fundraising effort by a presidential candidate in United States election history.

Approximately 21,000 Americans made online donations thus far. Today’s efforts surpassed John Kerry’s record $2.7 million online fundraising efforts two days after the 2004 Super Tuesday primaries, and Republican John McCain’s $1 million online following the New Hampshire primaries in 2000.

And, I’m told the 24-hour donation figure was $4.2 million from over 36,000 donors. Pretty impressive.

Walter Simons, Kathleen Polizzi, and Jarett Sanchez are among the throng in the top picture. All the headquarters photos and the one from the September Chicago rally were supplied by Jenner. Illinois Ron Paul Campaign Chair Joe Cesarone is in the second photo. Petition coordinator Jason Acebal gives a petition update and encourages supporters to help circulate in the picture near the photo credits.

Bludorn sent the State Fair photo.

The picture of Dr. Ron Paul at the microphone came from his Illinois communications coordinator Lisa Wogan.
