Social Workers of Illinois Endorse Gentes for State Senate

“Today we are proud to announce that Mayor Bill Gentes has received the endorsement of the Illinois Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers for State Senate in the upcoming 2008 general election. Mayor Gentes believes social workers play a vital role in our community. They can be found working in our schools, hospitals, senior centers, and even in our prisons. Often they do they do the work that so many others find too difficult, or unrewarding.

“Bill understands that social workers help our community tackle some of the most difficult social issues facing society; challenges like physical illness, unemployment, homelessness, child abuse, poverty, and disability. Without these people who dedicate their lives to the community, all of our lives would be much poorer.

“Bill is proud to receive their support, and encourages all citizens to get involved in community service.”

Gentes is running for the seat being vacated by State Senator Bill Peterson. Dan Duffy is also seeking the seat.
