Prior to the arrest of Island Lake Mayor Tom Hyde for forgery and official misconduct, minority Trustee John Ponio apparently tossed his hat into the ring for the top spot.

I met Ponio at Greg Kachka’s house while Fox News reporter Darian Trotter was interviewing him after he was arrested for wearing a tee shirt two village officials found threatening, as they did one of his hand gestures.
