Pingree Grove resident Dorota Jordan Running for District 300 Board

The following press release has arrived announcing the candidacy of Dorothy Jordan for the Carpentersville District 300 School Board:

Dorota A. Jordan (Dorothy), a resident of Pingree Grove, Ill., announced her candidacy for the Community Unit School District 300 School Board.

“I look forward to assisting in the additional work that needs to be done in the areas of student curriculum and development within the district. With D300 managing a tight financial budget, the challenge will be to support the academic growth of the district without compromising student achievement,” she said.

A Chicago native, Jordan moved to the western suburbs over 16 years ago and has been a resident of the District for over 2 years now. She commented, “As part of a new chapter in my life, supporting and advancing education in my community is integral.”

Jordan received her B.A. in Business Administration from DePaul University in 2002 and a Master of Arts in Secondary Education from Roosevelt University in 2008. She is a certified social studies teacher and is fluent in the Polish language.

A first generation American, Jordan has worked hard to achieve her goals with the love and support of her entire family.

“My husband and children have been very understanding and encouraging of my educational and professional goals,” she said.

Jordan is sensitive and understanding of bi-lingual families, having grown up herself as the primary translator for her parents.

“I appreciate the effort that D300 has made in communicating with bi-lingual families,” she said. “I would like to see a stronger showing of parents supporting their children’s education.”

She believes student achievement will improve when parents and community members become involved.

Jordan hopes to bring to the District a unique melding of business and education at a time when District 300 is shifting gears to cultivate a strong academic environment.

“Experiences in my life, education and professional career have shaped the way I view the learning process and my philosophy on teaching,” she said.
