Two Dead Men Walking

Condemned killers are called “Dead men walking” in prison.

Now Illinois has two politicians who qualify in the political sense.

The first, of course, is former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich.

He’s been impeached and, to add insult to injury, the Illinois State Senate voted to prohibit him from holding any elective office in Illinois…ever.

He is awaiting indictment April 7th, local election day outside of Chicago.

The second is Roland Burris, who is the United State’s newest Senator.

Saturday, Burris admitted that what he told the Illinois House Impeachment Committee under oath was not exactly the truth.

I’m sure it will be on the front pages of all the Sunday papers as this is written before going out to a Valentine’s Day dinner with my wife.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, State Rep. Jim Durkin (R-Western Springs), to whom Burris apparently lied,

“said Saturday that the Sangamon County state prosecutor’s office will be asked to review Burris‚ Jan. 8 sworn testimony before the House panel to determine whether Burris (D-Chicago) perjured himself.”

Here are the raw details.
