Mark Beaubien Comments on State Income Tax Hike

Right after Governor Pat Quinn announced his 50% income tax hike, I tried unsuccessfully to get some indication from State Rep. Mark Beaubien (R-Barrington Hills) how he stood on income tax increases.

I received no reply and haven’t seen him personally to ask him if he was for it or against.

Imagine my surprise to find the following statement from Beaubien in a Peoria Journal-Star article yesterday.

“Rep. Mark Beaubien, R-Barrington Hills, noted that in the past lawmakers raised the tax temporarily and later made it permanent. He also said the simultaneous increase in the corporate tax rate will make Illinois ‘the worst place in the country to do business.'”

Does that mean Beaubien will vote against a massive income tax hike?

I surely hope so.

If you want to talk to Beaubien or any other legislator, the state switchboard number is 217,782-2000.
