McHenry Clerk Kathie Schultz Running for Re-Election

Word is circulating at the McHenry County Club today that McHenry Clerk Katherine Schultz is running for re-election.

That’s where Republicans are having their annual golf day fund raiser. Later this afternoon undoubtedly every serious statewide candidate will made the rounds introducing him or herself to the gathered activists.

Tickets are $50 for dinner. Even if you have not made a reservation, party officials would probably be willing to take your check. (I’m off to Camp Lowden Boy Scout Camp for parents’ night or I’d see you there.)

Numerous ambitious Republicans have been hoping that Schultz and McHenry County Recorder of Deeds Phyllis Walters would decide to retire.

They hold well-paying jobs whose salaries will be over $100,000 next term.

So, just as Jack Franks could set off a chain reaction if he decides to run for statewide office, so could have Schultz.

I haven’t picked up anything on Walters’ retiring, but, if she does, folks who were interested in running for county clerk will all of a sudden think recorder of deeds is an office worthy of their ambitions.
