McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren is offering the premiums (license plate holder or bracket, window sticker and lapel pin) seen above at his 13th Annual McHenry County Sheriff’s Fundraiser.
It will be held Sept. 10th at Donley’s Banquet Hall in Union.
The price ranges from $35 for Republican precinct committeemen to $550 for a “Posse Table Sponsor.”
The regular price is $40.
He faces opposition in the Republican primary election from former deputy Zane Seipler and in the general election from Green Party candidate Gus Philpott.
Nygren had $122,712.48 in his campaign fund at the end of June.

Maricopa County (Arizona) Sheriff Joe Arpaio maintains a large and active posse. Many sheriff's departments maintained posses, which included armed, sworn volunteers who were well-trained and excellent shots.
Selling license plate frames and lapel pins might lead to the bearers asserting law enforcement authority where none exists.
This is not just a poor idea; it's a terrible idea.
Wait a minute Gang Guy and Gus. You don’t have to go to Arizona to find the term Posse being used by Sheriff’s Departments. I went to college in Iowa where several County Sheriffs departments had Posses, which really is the equivalent of reserve officers in municipal departments. They have used the term for years, even after Gordon Kahl, a member of the Posse Comitatus gun downed two US Marshals and an Arkansas officer in 1983.
