When looking at the legal bills that Grafton Township has run up with Ancel Glink, the word “priceless” comes to mind.

I recently went searching for township minutes and, guess what?

The minutes from October, 2009, are not yet available.

Let’s see.

October, November, December, January, February, March, April.

From left to right you see the Grafton Township Board, Trustees Gerry McMahon, Betty Zirk, Rob LaPorta and Barb Murphy; to the far right is Supervisor Linda Moore.

I know that minutes are what got the previous township board is BIG trouble regarding its attempt to build a $3.5 million ($5 million when interest is included) new township hall, so maybe the current township board is just being judicious and carefully reviewing unapproved minutes since last fall.

But, six months does seem to be more than a bit long.

Think with all the meetings that the township board has had that they might have been time to approve some minutes.

  1. While you are looking for minutes, maybe you should ask where the minutes for the D158 Financial Advisory Committee are?

  2. Why would the trustees want to do any township business. That would be way to easy and inexpensive. Maybe there is a reason they don’t want the minutes approved? I know of one for a fact. Back in Oct./Nov. they voted to have all regular meetings at the church, I believe it is the Faith Luthern Church, on Haligus Rd., for FREE. No cost to the taxpayers. But NO, lets pay the park district 1-2 hundred dollars a month. That’s our trustees, spend, spend, spend. I really thinks it is time to get back to township business.

  3. Didn’t the trustees also vote to limit the legal work when they hired AG starting in October? Some work was to be charged to a retainer. I don’t remember any retainer mentioned in the AG bill.

  4. Put the draft minutes of the latest annual meeting on the site – it’s going to be a year before they get approved – might as well see if they are accurate now and deliver the strong feelings in the room …..
