Crystal Lake Police Start Text Tip Program

The following is a press release from the Crystal Lake Police Department about a new program funding by the Crystal Lake Crimestoppers.

More information may be obtained by contacting Officer Sean McGrath, Police Community Relations Specialist.

The press release follows:

The Crystal Lake Police Department has launched an anonymous text program called  “Tip411”.Tip411 is an internet based tool that enables the public to text message an  anonymous tip to police, and lets the police respond back creating a two way anonymous “chat”.

Crystal Lake Crimestoppers is an organization that has been instrumental in helping to solve crimes in Crystal Lake for many years.

Tips are received by Crystal Lake Crimestoppers and the tipsters are kept anonymous. Those tips are then provided to CLPD for further investigation.

Thanks to funding from Crystal Lake Crimestoppers, the Crystal Lake Police Department has added the Tip 411 program to our information resource arsenal.

Reserved exclusively for Public Safety purposes and powered by CitizenObserver, a St.  Paul, MN. company, Tip411 puts a powerful new crime fighting tool into the hands of our  community for all ages and demographics.

Anyone with a cell phone can now send an anonymous tip to The Crystal Lake Police  Department by texting the word CLPDTIP and the tip information to 847411(Tip411).

Anonymous web tips can also be submitted right from the Police Departments website at www.crystallake.org.

The service is 100% anonymous. CitizenObserver’s technology removes all identifying  information before the Police Department see’s it so there’s no way to identify the sender.
